Kenya Power Announces Scheduled Maintenance Affecting Multiple Regions on April 23
Kenya Power has issued a notice of planned electricity interruptions set for Thursday, April 23, 2026, as part of routine maintenance aimed at improving service delivery and network reliability.
The scheduled outages will affect several areas across Nairobi, Kisumu, Nyeri, Laikipia, and Embu counties, with most interruptions expected to run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Nairobi Region
In Nairobi, power will be interrupted in parts of Gachie, Mirema, and Ngong Road.
Areas around Gachie, including Stabex Petrol Station, sections of Gachie Market, Redhill Baraka School, Muchugia Estate, Shamuka Road, and Bishops Estate, will be affected throughout the day.
In Mirema, residents along Mirema Drive and Mirema Springs should also prepare for the outage.
Meanwhile, along Ngong Road, the interruption will cover Miotoni Road, Lenana School, Ngando Village, Racecourse, Jamhuri Showground, Polo Club, Ayani Estate, Dagoretti Corner, and nearby areas.
Western Region
In Kisumu County, the outage will affect Kajulu Water, Gita Market, Great Lakes University, Kianja, Nyabondo, and surrounding areas.
Mt. Kenya Region
In Nyeri County, the maintenance will impact Kihari, Waihara Market, Kabebero, Iriani, Thunguri, Kiirini, and nearby centres. Institutions such as Othaya Boys and Othaya Approved School will also be affected.
In Laikipia County, areas including Mia Moja Secondary School, Kamuthanga, Matangi, and Ngenia Primary School will experience power interruptions.
In Embu County, the outage will cover Kamugu, Itiira Market, Kirie Market, Kandomba, Mukororai Market, Kathanje, and surrounding areas.

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected regions to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the maintenance period.
The utility company noted that the scheduled works are essential for upgrading infrastructure, addressing faults, and ensuring a more stable power supply in the long term.
