Kenya Power Announces Scheduled Outages in Nairobi, Bomet, and Nandi on April 27

Electricity consumers in parts of Nairobi, Bomet, and Nandi counties should brace for planned power interruptions on Monday, April 27, 2026, as the Kenya Power undertakes routine maintenance.

The utility company said the scheduled outages will take place during the day to allow technicians to carry out essential upgrades and repairs aimed at improving service reliability.

Nairobi West Affected

In Nairobi West, the power interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas set to be affected include Msufu Road, Sumba Road, Naimei Road, and parts of Mombasa Road near ICC Church.

Other locations on the outage list include PAA Crescent, Kifaru Crescent, Swara Crescent, Ghandi Avenue, Kisauni Road, Muthaiti Avenue, and Muhoho Avenue. Key institutions and facilities such as Nairobi West Hospital, Hotel Rio, Summerdale Hotel, and the ABSA Bank Nairobi West branch will also be affected.

Residents around Kodi Road, Geta Road, Masaba Road near Nyayo National Stadium, Ole Sankale Road, and Madaraka Estate are also expected to experience the outage. Additional affected areas include Serene Court, Foundation Court, Ramsey Court, Siwaka Estate, Strathmore University, Langata Technical and Vocational College, and Madaraka Primary School, along with nearby customers.

Sotik Areas in Bomet

In Sotik, the outage will also run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected locations include Gorgor, Gelegele, Abosi, Kapchumbe, Njiship Market, and Shartuka Market, as well as surrounding areas.

Kaimosi and Chepkumia in Nandi

Meanwhile, parts of Nandi County—specifically Kaimosi and Chepkumia—will experience power interruptions from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas expected to be affected include Kiborgok, Yala, Chepsonoi, Kaimosi Tea Factory, Kaimosi Friends University (formerly Kaimosi Bible College), Chepkumia Tea Factory, Sirwo, and Tindinyo.

Advisory to Customers

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly, noting that electricity supply will be restored once maintenance works are completed. Residents are also encouraged to handle electrical appliances with care during the outage period.
