Kenyan Film Industry Mourns Loss Of Versatile Actor Bilal Wanjau
The Kenyan film and theatre industry is deeply mourning the untimely passing of celebrated actor Bilal Wanjau, who succumbed to complications related to Diabetes in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The sad news was announced by his colleague, actress Sandra Dacha, who shared her profound sorrow on social media.
“It is with profound sorrow that I announce the untimely passing of my colleague Bilal Wanjau this early morning due to Diabetes complications,” Sandra stated.
Dacha expressed deep regret over the loss, emphasizing Wanjau’s immense contribution to the Kenyan entertainment space. “Bilal was a GREAT TALENTED ACTOR! We have lost one of the BEST in the industry,” she added.
Wanjau is scheduled to be laid to rest quickly, with burial arrangements set for Friday, December 5, 2025, at his rural home in Machakos. Sandra urged the public to keep the bereaved family in their prayers during this difficult time.

Bilal Wanjau enjoyed a vibrant and versatile acting career, becoming a familiar face on popular Kenyan drama shows. He was perhaps most widely known for his performances in the hit production Tahidi High, where his youthful roles left a lasting impression on viewers.

He also featured prominently in the popular series Lies That Bind and the compelling prison drama Jela 5 Star. Within the latter, he delivered a memorable performance as the prison guard Kasoro Bin Kasoro.
