King Kaka reveals why he dropped the name Rabbit

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the artiste revealed that the name Rabbit held deep personal meaning, tracing back to his childhood. He shared that he used to sell rabbits while still in nursery school, earning him the nickname “Sunguchi,” inspired by a clever character from a book.
From Rabbit to King Kaka
As he ventured into music, the nickname evolved into Rabbit and became his identity in the industry. However, over time, he realised the brand no longer aligned with his long-term ambitions.
The turning point came when he began looking beyond performances and exploring opportunities in business. While music brought in income, he recognised that greater potential lay in corporate spaces.
“I asked myself, where is the real money? Stage has money, but the boardroom has more,” he said.
Building a Corporate-Friendly Brand
King Kaka explained that corporate environments are highly sensitive to image and branding, prompting him to adopt a persona that could thrive in such settings. This led to the creation of the name “King Kaka,” which he intentionally crafted to reflect confidence, professionalism, and business acumen.
The transition, however, came with risks, including the possibility of losing recognition and confusing his audience. To manage the shift, he gradually introduced the new identity, at one point using “Rabbit King Kaka” before fully dropping his former name.
Expanding Beyond Music
According to the rapper, the rebrand has since paid off, opening doors beyond the entertainment industry. Today, much of his work involves engaging in corporate spaces—pitching ideas, developing campaigns, and collaborating with organisations.
“Monday to Friday, I’m in boardrooms. I’m pitching, I’m selling ideas,” he said.
He added that his work has evolved into selling concepts and directing campaigns, marking a significant shift from his earlier focus on music alone.
A Necessary Evolution
Despite the challenges, King Kaka believes the decision was crucial in positioning his brand for growth. The rebrand has allowed him to build meaningful partnerships with corporate clients, creating opportunities that extend far beyond the stage.
For him, the move represents not just a name change, but a strategic step toward long-term success and influence beyond the music industry.
