KPLC: Planned Maintenance & Blackouts to Affect 4 Counties

Kenya Power announced that several counties will experience planned outages on October 24 as part of maintenance work. The outages are expected to run from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in most areas.
This is not an unexpected blackout, but part of ongoing efforts to upgrade and maintain the electricity distribution network.

Areas Affected & What to Expect

Here are some of the specific locations included in the outage notice:

  • Nairobi County
    Power will be interrupted in parts of Muthaiga — including Karura Avenue, Mini Market, Muthaiga Road, and embassies nearby (e.g. Israel, USA, Belgium, Ghana, Italy, Austria, Tanzania) and other adjacent customers.

  • Narok County (Central Rift Region)
    Areas such as Dikirr, Mokondo, Kirindoni, and several other localities like Esoit, Murkan, Kurangurik, Mamboleo, Kapolecho, Simotwet, Kapweria, Tumda, Kiletien, Chemmamit, Kiriwet, and Kapsinendet will face the outage.

  • Kisii County
    Parts of Kisii County will experience power outages in places including Keumbu and Kiandege, with public facilities such as Keumbu Sub-County Hospital, Keumbu Market, Riondonga Secondary, Kiangende Polytechnic, and neighboring customers.

  • Migori County
    Areas around Awendo Town, Ranya / Rinya, and the Sony Sugar area are included in the planned blackout period.
