MP Peter Salasya Cites “Shyness” As Major Hurdle In Search For Four Wives
Despite his reputation for bold political stances, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has admitted that he faces a relatable challenge: the “butterflies” of romance. In a candid Instagram update, the lawmaker revealed that his grand plan to marry four wives is currently at a standstill, citing a mix of professional dedication and personal bashfulness.
Shyness vs. Political Ambition
Salasya, who has been vocal about his desire for a large, polygamous family, confessed that approaching potential partners is proving more difficult than campaigning for office.
“I will marry four wives, but among those four, I should find at least one from Wanga. Unfortunately, I don’t have one in mind yet,” he shared. The MP explained that when he is on the ground, he is often too engrossed in his legislative duties to focus on dating, adding, “I am so serious with work and shy at the same time to approach one. Fear is just a disease on its own.”
Cultural Roots and Past Heartbreak
The youthful legislator often links his marital goals to the traditions of the Wanga community, where polygamy is an established cultural practice. However, his path to the altar has been anything but linear.
Salasya has previously opened up about a significant heartbreak in 2017, when a long-term relationship ended following his unsuccessful first bid for Parliament. He noted that the split occurred during one of the most difficult periods of his life, a trial that has since shaped his criteria for a future partner.
The Search for the “Ideal” Partner
Since entering the 13th Parliament in 2022, Salasya’s search for a wife has been a recurring topic of public interest. He has even sought the advice of prominent figures, once jokingly asking Mama Ida Odinga to help him identify a suitable spouse.
While he remains one of the country’s most eligible bachelor politicians, Salasya’s latest admission suggests that even for a “naturally polygamous” man, the first step—making the approach—remains the hardest part of the journey.
