MP Wamuchomba Slams Nakuru Nightclub Over School Uniform Stunt

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has sharply criticized a Nakuru nightclub after a viral video showed female bartenders dressed in school uniforms, sparking widespread outrage.

Calling the incident a disturbing case of “normalizing child sexualization,” Wamuchomba condemned Space Next Door, the club at the center of the storm, which later issued a public apology.

Drawing the Line

In a strongly worded social media post, Wamuchomba clarified she is “not a moral cop” but questioned where society should draw the line between advertising and morality.

“This is a new phenomenon of normalizing child sexualization and pedophilia fantasies. I’m not a moral cop, but where do we draw the line between advertisement and morals?” she posed.

The MP stressed that school uniforms carry symbolic weight and should never be used in adult entertainment. She warned that presenting them in such a context blurs the boundary between children and sexual objectification.

“This gives predators a field day to mentally socialize children to pleasure, indirectly sexualizing and objectifying prepubescent children,” she said, warning it could fuel sexual exploitation and abuse.

A Society at Risk

Wamuchomba further linked the issue to Kenya’s broader struggles, noting the country is already grappling with rising cases of incest, molestation, and sexual assault. She argued that trivializing such imagery only emboldens abusers and deepens existing social crises.

Club’s Response

In response to the backlash, Space Next Door issued a statement acknowledging the video but insisting it had been part of a themed night.

“At no point do we promote or endorse any of the claims associated with this video. Our sole intention was to create fun, engaging, and respectful experiences while highlighting everyday roles in a positive and entertaining light,” the management said.

The club apologized for the controversy, adding:
“We sincerely apologize for any negative misinterpretation. We remain committed to maintaining professionalism, creativity, and community connection in everything we do.”
