Obinna cuts interview short after exposing fake KCPE star
Oga Obinna has stirred debate online after abruptly cutting short an interview with a man identified as Collins Maina, who claimed to have been the top KCPE candidate in 2012.
The interview, which aired on Obinna’s online show, initially centred on Collins’ emotional personal story. He alleged that he lost both parents while still young and struggled to continue with his education because of financial difficulties.
His story had previously attracted sympathy online, with many Kenyans praising his resilience and urging well-wishers to support him.
However, the conversation took a different turn after Obinna began questioning apparent inconsistencies in Collins’ account.
Questions that sparked doubt
During the live interview, Obinna asked Collins to provide specific details about his KCPE performance — information many former top candidates would likely remember clearly.
The comedian questioned him about his overall score, subject grades, school details, and examination records.
“What did you score in English? What about Mathematics? What’s your index number?” Obinna asked during the session.
The line of questioning quickly triggered tension in the interview, with viewers online divided over whether Collins’ claims were genuine or misleading.
