Pastor Kanyari Breaks Silence, Urges Tash To “Heed Advice” Of Late Betty Bayo’s Mother

Pastor Victor Kanyari, the father of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo’s children, has intervened in the ongoing family tensions surrounding the singer’s estate and children, urging the widower, Hiram Gitau (Tash), to respect the wishes of Betty’s grieving mother.

In a video shared on TikTok on Sunday, December 7, 2025, Kanyari explained that he had purposefully refrained from commenting on matters related to Betty and her family. However, hearing the distress of Betty Bayo’s mother compelled him to speak out.

“Naitwa pastor Kanyari ama prophet Kanyari singependa sana kuongelelea mambo ya Betty Bayo ama mama ya watoto wangu… But after mama ya Betty Bayo kuongea nikatamani kuongea (I wouldn’t like to talk about Betty Bayo or the mother of my children… But after Betty Bayo’s mother spoke, I felt compelled to talk),” Kanyari stated.

Respecting the Grieving Mother

Kanyari highlighted the profound pain of the bereaved mother, stressing that her loss was the deepest. He noted that Betty was the child who provided for her, built her a home, and facilitated her travel abroad.

“I am very sad because of that mother, I feel pity for her, and I would ask Tash, just listen to the advice of that mother. Tash, do not incur the curse of the deceased or of that mother while she is alive, just listen to the advice of that mother,” Kanyari pleaded.

He emphasized that while others may underestimate her grief, he could not, acknowledging her sacrifice: “People can look down upon that mother, but I cannot. She has lost her child; she was the only child helping her.”

The self-proclaimed prophet added that even though Sky and Danny are his children, he would still prioritize listening to Betty’s mother’s guidance. “Ata mimi pastor Kanyari, nitasikiliza huyo mama kenye atasema, ni sawa watoto ni wangu lakini nitasikiliza huyo mama (Even I, Pastor Kanyari, will listen to what that mother says; it is true the children are mine, but I will listen to that mother),” he noted.

Mama Betty’s Endorsement

Kanyari’s public remarks follow a revelation made by Betty’s mother just one night prior. In a live session with Joyce Wairimu on Saturday, Mama Betty praised Kanyari, describing him as a good man with whom she maintains a cordial relationship.

During the session, Mama Betty urged Kanyari to prioritize seeking full custody of his children, stating: “Besides everything I have said about Tash, I want to say that Kanyari is a good man, and we have a very good friendship. With these new developments, I spoke to him recently and asked him to prioritise seeking full custody of his children.”
