Planned Power Interruptions Across Multiple Regions on April 22

Electricity consumers in several parts of the country should prepare for scheduled power outages on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, as part of routine maintenance works by Kenya Power.

The planned interruptions will affect sections of Nairobi, North Rift, Western, South Nyanza, Mt. Kenya, and North Eastern regions, with outages expected to last between morning and evening hours depending on the area.

Nairobi Region

In Nairobi, outages will occur from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the following areas:

  • Uhuru Camp and parts of Lang’ata Road: Including Uhuru Camp, Mbagathi, Akila Estate, Texas Cancer Centre, Qwetu Hostels, Funguo Estate, sections of Lang’ata Road, Bible Society, parts of Madaraka, House of Grace, and nearby customers.
  • Lower Kabete: Covering Lower Kabete Road, University of Nairobi Lower Kabete Campus, Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete Primary, Peponi School, Farasi Primary, Mwimuto, New Kitisuru, Kitisuru Spring Estates, Gituamba, and surrounding areas.

North Rift Region

In parts of Uasin Gishu County, power will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in areas such as Boma Inn, Top Hill, Reale Hospital, and Top Hill Hospital, as well as Simbi and Kaptebengwet and adjacent customers.

Western Region

In Bungoma County, outages will affect Kalenda and Malanga areas, including Musaga, Samitsi, Shirugu, Malaya Market, Malaya District Hospital, West Kenya Sugar Company, Shamberere National Polytechnic, and neighbouring locations. Power cuts will occur between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with some sections scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

South Nyanza Region

Parts of Kisii County will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas affected include Nyakoiba, Nyansara, Eburi, Nyamasege, Kiagware, Nyansakia, and Kona Yonduko.

Additional areas such as Magena, Nyangusu, and Mara Tea zones will also be affected, including Ekerorano, Nyachenge Market, Kerina Market, and nearby institutions.

Mt. Kenya Region

In Nyeri County, outages will occur between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in areas including Tumutumu Hospital, Tumutumu Primary and Secondary schools, Kiangoma Market, and surrounding locations.

Other affected areas include Mweiga Blooms, Kamatongu, Mwireri, General Karangi Beef Factory, and nearby establishments.

In parts of Laikipia County, including Thome and Matanya, power will be off from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

North Eastern Region

In Kitui County, areas such as Zombe, Mutomo, Kikuu, Kiambere, Katse, and Tseikuru will experience outages between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Key locations include Kyuso, Kandwia, Kwa Gavana, and surrounding markets and centres.

Advisory to Residents

Kenya Power has advised affected customers to plan accordingly, as electricity supply will be temporarily unavailable during the maintenance period. Residents are encouraged to unplug sensitive electrical appliances to avoid damage when power is restored.

The maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to improve service reliability and ensure a stable power supply across the country.
