Planned Power Interruptions to Affect Multiple Regions on April 21

Several parts of the country are set to experience scheduled power interruptions on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, as part of routine maintenance aimed at improving electricity reliability.

The outages will affect areas across Nairobi and multiple counties, with most interruptions scheduled between morning and late afternoon hours.

Nairobi Region

In Nairobi, power will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Madaraka, Siwaka, and surrounding estates, including areas near Strathmore.

Another outage will affect sections along Kingara Road, including Mbaazi Close, parts of Mbaazi Avenue, Naivas Supermarket (Mbaazi), Merlin Court, MAC Apartments, Ebru TV Station, sections of James Gichuru Road, Gitanga Road, and the entire Hatheru Road.

Machakos County

In Machakos County, areas along Wote Road will experience power cuts from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected locations include Ukamba Bible College, Machakos People’s Park, Katoloni, Malili, Ngiini, Kola Market, Kalama, Mutuyu, Kyangala, and several surrounding markets, schools, and residential centres.

North Rift Region

Parts of Uasin Gishu County, specifically Chepkatet and Labuiywet, will be without power from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Western Region

In Bungoma County, areas around Chwele Market, Kuywa, and nearby schools will be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Mt. Kenya Region

Several counties in the Mt. Kenya region will also be impacted:

  • In Nyeri County, areas such as Witima, Kagumo, and nearby coffee factories will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • In Laikipia County, Kangaita Market and surrounding areas will be affected during the same hours.
  • Parts of Murang’a County, including Ndithini, Kaguku, and Kirimiri, will also face outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • In Embu County, areas such as Kivaa, Masinga, Kaewa, and surrounding markets will be affected throughout the day.

North Eastern Region

In Kitui County, locations including Kisasi, Ikanga, Muani, and surrounding markets will experience power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Advisory to Residents

Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to plan accordingly, as the outages may disrupt normal activities. The maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to enhance power supply stability and infrastructure across the regions.
