Gachagua claims to have credible intelligence that the demonstrations will be violently hijacked to frame the opposition.
The upcoming protests were organized to commemorate the young Kenyans who lost their lives during the historic anti-government demonstrations of 2024 and 2025, with victims’ families calling for nationwide marches to demand justice and accountability.
Bombshell Allegations Against Top State Officials
Addressing the media on Tuesday, June 23, Gachagua dropped a series of massive allegations, naming high-ranking government officials allied with President William Ruto as the architects of a plot to orchestrate chaos across Nairobi and the Mount Kenya region.
“I have credible intelligence that Kipchumba Murkomen (Interior CS) and Raymond Omollo (Interior PS), using Moses Kuria and Kimani Ichung’wah, Susan Kihika from Nakuru, and other UDA leaders allied to William Ruto, have organized guns to cause terror and mayhem in Nairobi and the Mount Kenya region and blame the opposition,” Gachagua alleged.
Claims of a Ksh 200 Million Secret Bank Withdrawal
The former Deputy President went further to allege that massive state resources are being funneled from secret accounts to bankroll the planned disruptions.
According to Gachagua, a multi-million shilling withdrawal was executed on Tuesday morning to finance goons.
-
The Amount: Ksh 200 million.
-
The Source: A bank in Upper Hill, Nairobi, from a confidential expenditure account operated by the State Department for Internal Security.
-
The Alleged Target Areas: Nairobi, Mount Kenya region, Kajiado, and Narok.
“These funds are for mobilizing goons and deploying them to unleash terror and mayhem,” he stated.
“Police Told to Stand Down”
In another damaging claim, Gachagua asserted that standard security protocols have been compromised. He alleged that regular police officers have been explicitly instructed to stand down and allow destruction to happen before stepping in, a directive he claims has caused deep divisions within the service.
“Senior police officers have raised concerns over the instructions they have received, saying they are uncomfortable with the directives,” Gachagua concluded.
The shocking allegations come at a time of heightened political tension as the country approaches the one-year anniversary of the anti-Finance Bill demonstrations.
