Samidoh Fires Back At Fan Questioning His Police Career Amid Brutality
Popular Mugithi singer and police officer Samidoh (Samuel Muchoki) is once again making headlines, this time for a sharp retort to a fan who questioned his decision to join the police service.
The exchange began after Samidoh commented on a post by fellow singer Ngaruiya, who was facing criticism for remarks concerning the shooting of Boniface Kariuki, a hawker reportedly gunned down by a police officer during recent protests. While Samidoh’s initial reply to Ngaruiya was light-hearted, it was a cheeky interaction in the comments section that truly captured attention.
Amid the national uproar over rising cases of police brutality, one fan directly asked Samidoh why he chose to become a cop. Never one to back down, the singer responded with a sarcastic yet confident tone:
“I qualified. Then there is this hard part of running 10 km, wanna join?” This humorous comment quickly garnered praise from fans who commended him for defending his profession despite growing public criticism.
Interestingly, despite being a police officer himself, Samidoh has shown solidarity with the public amidst the increasing outrage over extrajudicial killings. When influencer Albert Ojwang was found dead in police custody, Samidoh posted a photo of himself next to a portrait of George Floyd, a gesture widely interpreted as an acknowledgment of the ongoing fight against police brutality.
