Scheduled Power Maintenance to Affect Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri and Embu Areas on Thursday

Several parts of the country are set to experience planned electricity interruptions on Thursday, May 7, 2026, as routine maintenance works are carried out to improve power reliability and network efficiency.

Nairobi Region

In Nairobi, parts of Eastleigh will experience a power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected areas include 5th Street, Nasiye Restaurant, Madina Guest House, Domo Plaza and nearby customers.

Another outage within the Nairobi region will affect Karen during the same hours. Areas expected to be impacted include sections of Karen Road, Karen Country Club, Karen Triangle, Grange Park, Lower Plains Road, Karen Plains Road, Karen Hospital, Ndege Road, Marist University, Marist Lane, Morongo Road, Fana Road, Begonia Drive, Karen Plains Police Station, Karen Technical for the Deaf and surrounding areas.

Mt. Kenya Region

In Nyeri County, areas around Mweiga Blooms and Kamatongu will face electricity interruptions from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Affected locations include Mweiga Blooms, Kamatongu, General Karangi Beef Factory, Samaki, Mwireri, Honi Resort, Muthinga Restaurant, Colonel Peter Njoroge and adjacent customers.

Meanwhile, in Embu County, areas including Kirie, Kathanje and Karambari will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Kamugu Market, Itiira Market, Karambari, Kirie Market, Kadamba, Mukororai Market, Kathanje Market, Kivuebase, Gangara, Michegethio Market and nearby customers.

North Eastern Region

In Kiambu County, parts of Kanunga and Kasphat will experience scheduled outages between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Areas affected include Kanunga, Ngegu, Torito, Kasphat, Ibonia, Kiamara, Kiratina and surrounding locations.

Another section of Kiambu County, including parts of Kahawa Wendani, will also be affected during the same period. Areas expected to experience interruptions include Maguna Supermarket, Wendani Police, Clean Shelf, Royal Homes, Kahawa Downs, Alvo and nearby customers.

Advisory to residents

Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to make necessary arrangements ahead of the interruptions. Electricity supply is expected to be restored once the scheduled maintenance works are completed.
