Kenyan businesswoman Akothee has come under fire after exposing a Kenyan journalist, identified as Kabuga, and alleging that he demanded cash from her for an interview.
In screenshots shared by Akothee, Kabuga had requested an interview with her, and she had asked him what time he would like. He responded by saying 12 a.m. Akothee said that she was busy at the time and went ahead to share what she would be doing in the following hours.
At some point in the conversation, Kabuga suggested that Akothee be the one to cater for lunch, jokingly stating that he is a “mtu wa mkono” (someone who is broke) and that he has no allowance to pay for venues.
Akothee was not amused by Kabuga’s request, and she accused him of being unprofessional. She also shared a screenshot of a conversation between herself and another journalist, who had offered to interview her without asking for any money.
