Zimbabweans celebrate Mugabe’s exit but the incoming president is just another tyrant as well. The son of Zimbabwe’s incoming president is also a beneficiary of state loot.
It’s not yet Uhuru for Zimbaweans. Robert Mugabe’s former vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to be sworn in as president in the next few days.
The 75 year old Mnangagwa served in Mugabe’s cabinet since independence. He was Mugabe’s vice president until November 6th when he was sacked.
Ndembele massacre
Mnangagwa is a notorious and much-feared figure in Zimbabwe having led vicious crackdown on opponents of Mugabe’s regime.
He was nicknamed ‘Crocodile’ after leading a dreaded North Korean-trained Fifth Army brigade in an operation against Ndembele tribe.
Mnangagwa led the 1983-84 massacre of Ndebele people in Matabeleland. Mugabe’s then fiercest political rival Joshua Nkomo came from Matabeland.
Mnangagwa’s spendthrift son
Social media is awash with photos of Michael Sean showing off his expensive lifestyle. Mnangagwa’s son is no better than Mugabe’s son Chatunga who lives an extravagant lifestyle in South Africa at the expense of Zimbabwean taxpayers.
