The Life, Music, and Legacy of Betty Bayo
Betty Bayo, born Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, was a renowned Kikuyu gospel singer and entrepreneur celebrated for her powerful vocals and uplifting lyrics. She rose to prominence with her breakout song “Eleventh Hour,” which became one of Kenya’s most beloved gospel anthems.
Initially hesitant to record in Kikuyu, Betty eventually embraced her vernacular roots—a decision that transformed her career. Her hit songs, including “Thiiri,” “Busy Busy,” and “Uira,” cemented her place as one of the most influential gospel artists of her generation.
Her inspirational music earned her millions of YouTube views, numerous performances, and a devoted fan base that admired both her talent and authenticity. Beyond her music, Betty was a devoted mother of two and a successful entrepreneur, balancing her personal life, business, and ministry with grace and determination.
According to family reports, Bayo had been battling leukemia for some time before her passing. Despite her illness, she remained steadfast in her faith—often using her platform to encourage others through prayer, hope, and resilience.
