Artistes should not fear to ask questions about their money – Khaligraph speaks in regard to MCSK ‘peanut’ payments

Barely months after the MCSK ‘peanuts’ payments scandal, Khaligraph declares his support for fast-rising talents, especially the Gengetone artists.

The well-established Kenyan rapper believes the upcoming talents and any other, need to learn the ropes pretty fast, to avoid falling victims of poor pay by establishments like MCSK.

Speaking to Word Is on Friday, Papa Jones articulated:

As far as getting paid goes, there have been talks. However, I haven’t attended any meetings. It has even reached the President and they want to straighten this thing. Artistes should not fear to ask questions about their money. I have been in the industry for long and I know how the industry is.

Adding that it is their time as already well-established artistes, to ensure they build a platform firm enough for future generations to stand on and thrive.

This he expressed, in reference to the on-going battle with the Music Copyright Society of Kenya that artistes believe is taking them for a joke.

There are so many artists coming up and the Kenyan industry has changed. I spoke on their behalf so that they don’t go through what I have gone through. I raised this issue to get a solution. These artistes are depending on the music.

However, he declares his support, not immediately but when the time comes.

When I see the reason for working with them, then I will. These kids are doing well on their own. Right now, everyone is jumping to what they are doing.

When East Africa’s Got Talent kicked off, we didn’t think it was anything serious. Okay, we didn’t think it was competitive enough like the rest of the global ‘Got Talent’ shows.

With it’s pluses and minuses, sometimes having to re-think your position in regard to it. But just like every other thing that has a beginning, so does it have an end.

The East African talent show 2019 has finally come to a close of it’s first. Additionally, the scores are out and the winners announced, during its finals in Nairobi, Kenya.

Sunday, the 6th of October 2019, was the most awaited moment as East Africa’s Got Talent Show would publicly parade their winners.

Top rising bongo star, Ten Ballz, who resides in Kenya though Tanzanian-born, has opened up about days he got conned and left to the dark streets.

My family couldn’t afford to get me to college because I wanted to be a doctor. I met a Kenyan guy who told me there are opportunities here. I sold my land back home, came to Nairobi only to find out that he was a conman. I didn’t have a place to stay, so I opted for the streets. I have lived near Afya Centre as a street kid for a very long time. Life was really bad, we used to call Nairobi ‘Shamba La mawe’ because it wasn’t easy.

Life lessons

Fortunately, the streets came along with life lessons that he has learnt to observe since then; treat close people like your brothers regardless.

A human will only laugh with you when you have money. If you don’t, then you will have no friends. A brother is the one you have chosen to be a brother.

There is a time I called my brothers and I received no aid, I was helped by complete strangers. I met an American who was my good Samaritan. He took me in and later put me in school at Alliance Française. My dream of becoming a doctor was already shattered. That’s where I started singing again and met Njuguna, who linked me up with the management of Mombasa InterContinental.

With a comparison between Kenya and Tanzania, the boy band member believes unlike Tanzania, Kenyans have no gossiping culture that goes deep in their bones.

We have no deep-rooted culture for gossiping here – Kenya. Tanzanian’s cultural behaviors of gossiping and cheap internet play a big role. [Hatuna zile msingi na itikadi za umbeya. However, back home, speaking in regard to the boy band, Savara stated that Sauti Sol’s focus is on music growth among young talents. Something they are working on.

With a couple of signees in their label, and a label already established, what is left, is to see the talents explore their potential.

Further adding that, sure, something is cooking – an album – and will probably be ready for release come 2020. However, failing to dig into details on the subject.

Despite the mystery at hand, Savara urges fans to sit tight and wait because something big is about to blow – a blend of local and international voices.

Outspoken Citizen TV journalist, Hussein Mohamed has called it quits at the Royal Media Services’ owned station after 10 years.

The tough political news anchor made this public announcement on Friday, revealing that he will be taking a break from the art.

Celebrated gospel artist, Mercy Masika is disappointed by the rising statistics of gospel artistes moving to the secular world of music.

According to the Goodwill Ambassador, these artistes eventually don’t get far.

Unfortunately, the gospel music of today is all about entertainment. Something Masika believes has been derailed from the actual meaning of what spreading the gospel through music should be.

Well, Tanasha gave birth yesterday, as Diamond clocked the third floor too. That sure is news, though probably stale by now.

All this while we thought we had a baby Simba whose eyes were gradually opening to the world’s realities but he was still tucked deep inside his mother’s womb.

Fine, it’s a harsh reality we have to accept. However, despite being Diamond’s third baby mama, surrounded by life’s milk and butter, her pregnancy wasn’t all rosy.

Through her Insta pages, the world welcomes an hours-old baby boy but Tanasha suffered complications for her to grace her lover with an adorable son.

Opening up about her first time experience, Tanasha pens:

17 hours of labor at 42 weeks, natural birth.. but it was all worth it. God is good. I’m now a mom to a healthy beautiful baby boy who shares a bday with my love. Thank you Lord????

Additionally, according to a source, the baby boy developed minor health complications but has since then recovered.

The now mother of 1 apparently gave birth at the Aga Khan hospital, but with tight security to ensure ultimate safety of the little one and her mother.

Starehe MP, Charles Njagua paid witty comedian, Eric Omondi a visit at his home but his plea is one; Eric should consider taking back in his ex, Chantal.

The two seem to have had a lovely time at Eric’s residence but what was missing was the skills of a woman. Skills that are irreplaceable, according to Jaguar.

“I am not dead!” Machachari actress, Mama Baha, alleged to be dead, strongly refutes the claims

It was just yesterday that news flew around concerning Machachari actress, Wanjiku Mburu alias Mama Baha’s death.

However, she is not dead. The popular act has come out to dismiss the claims that she is no more.

Mama Baha on Wednesday, the 2nd of October condemned the news while confirming she is alive and doing well.

Sadly, her alleged death was fueled by news of the death of Machachari’s director of photography, Mburu Kimani’s wife, Pamela Wanjiru.

Speaking to TUKO, Mama Baha clarified:

I am well. The blogs should at least call people to confirm before spreading false reports. It is true someone died but it is not me. I am not happy with the false reports and people using my photos. My heart goes out to Mburu Kimani and his family for the loss of their loved one. My fans should know I am alive and let us keep doing our work.

This she sought to point out just to make things straight concerning the death at hand.

Her friends also took to social media to confirm that the spreading rumors are but false because Mama Baha is strong and healthy.

Tahidi High actor, George Mulei has gone public concerning health conditions both his parents are battling and is having financial constrains on them.

The act is now appealing to good Samaritans and Kenyans of good-will to give a hand where possible most especially financially to see his parents through.

The talent’s father is currently battling cancer in India as his mother is experiencing chest problems that necessitated her to go through a surgery.

Fund-raising concert

So in a bid to take care of the finances both his parents are incurring through hospital bills, the multi-talented actor decided to hold a charity concert but in a creative way.

George has organized an event titled ‘Tupatane Link Up Concert’ scheduled for Saturday, the 12th of October 2019 at the Ongata Rongai Talanta Social Hall as from 12pm.

In his Facebook post, charges are at Ksh 200 per person, money that will be channeled towards footing the building hospital bills.

After making a deal with the hospital,Mum underwent her surgery, and it turned out okay we thank God. She’s recovering from it as we try to settle the admission costs. We really pray no complications arise but we remain thankful as we were stranded on what to do, and we thank you all for the support.

As we plan for Dad’s chemotherapy, we’re holding a concert in which the proceeds are for their treatment. Please mark your calendars as we plan on using our talents and skills to make sure you all have a good time, hope to see you then!! ????

Earlier on, George through social media, made a plea to the public to assist him in raising funds for his parents’ treatment.

In the video clip, he explained his father’s problem and what led to it as well as his mother’s. Unfortunate incidences that were triggered by the trauma of the passing on of their parents.

It was after the death of the parents to Mulei’s father, that the health condition of George’s dad and mom deteriorated.

So it took a toll on him emotionally and my mom too. It has been quite a journey, my mom also feel ill due to the stresses of losing her mom and father-in-law.

The mother developed chest problems and after the doctor’s diagnosis, she needed to undergo urgent surgery because she developed a clot in her chest.

Close family and friends put together what they could and saw the father return to India for treatment as well as their mother’s treatment.

But they have been milked out to the last drop.

“Jeff was not raised with a silver spoon” Jeff Koinange’s mother clarifies

When we talk of Jeff Koinange, we see a man whose childhood was all rosy and future well secured, but that’s not it!

Lineage

Jeff Koinange was born to a father, whose father, was a prominent Kikuyu chief during Kenya’s colonial period.

Therefore where Jeff falls in this lineage is, his grandfather, Koinange Wa Mbiyu was the wealthy one and probably that trickled down to the chief’s sons, including Jeff’s father, the late Fredrick Mbiyu Koinange.

However, things got worse after Jeff’s father passed on and left Jeff behind, in the hands of a single mom who raised them up in a normal family set-up.

This the aging mother revealed during Jeff’s recent event on Sunday hosted at Country Roads, Thika Greens Golf Resort, with both in attendance.

Mary Mbiu, Jeff’s 82-year old mother, took over the podium to clarify that her son was not born with a silver spoon as the world has grown to assume.

People should not associate the name Koinange with riches because Jeff was raised in a normal family set-up. I raised him like a normal child because his father died when he was still young.

Jeff’s dad, Fredrick Mbiyu Koinange was brother to Mbiyu Koinange, who was the eldest son of chief Koinange Wa Mbiyu.

Mbiyu Koinange was a Kenyan politician who served in the government and cabinet of Kenya’s first president, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, for a whooping 16 years.

Jeff’s father on the other hand, was the first Kenyan to open a car dealership but later died in the year 1966, a time when Jeff was barely 2 years of age.

The psyched up bongo artist did not mince his words, bragging how he would get to the top of Africa’s tallest mountain in record time.
