Businessman Kennedy Rapudo has emphatically shut down rumors that he’s creating a WhatsApp group to coordinate his upcoming wedding with socialite and actress Amber Ray.
In a recent statement on his Instagram Stories, Rapudo refuted reports suggesting he was organizing a wedding committee via WhatsApp, a common practice in Kenya for pooling resources.
“Let me make it clear — there is no WhatsApp group, and there never was,” he wrote, adding a laughing emoji. “I believe in handling my responsibilities personally. My wedding is not a fundraising event.”
He added pointedly;
“If we ever do a wedding, I will never form a WhatsApp group ati mnichangie. It is something we are doing for ourselves. People should stop forming groups for weddings and ruracios.”
Rapudo’s comments came in response to unverified claims circulating on local gossip blogs. These claims suggested he had added friends and associates to a WhatsApp group not just for planning, but also for financial contributions to the couple’s highly anticipated wedding.
The rumor ignited a heated online debate, with some Kenyans criticizing the tradition of forming committees for private ceremonies, while others defended it as a form of communal support. For Rapudo, however, the idea is clearly off the table.
“I understand people love drama, especially when it involves Amber and me,” he noted. “But let’s not spread falsehoods. I’ll ask directly — not via a WhatsApp group.”
Amber Ray, whose real name is Faith Makau, didn’t issue a direct comment but reposted Rapudo’s statement on her own social media pages, signaling her clear support for her fiancé’s stance.
The couple has remained in the spotlight since rekindling their relationship earlier this year after a much-publicized breakup. Known for their glamorous lifestyle and public displays of affection, their potential nuptials have become one of the most talked-about celebrity events of the year.
While fans continue to speculate about the wedding’s date and location, Rapudo’s message is clear: he intends to walk down the aisle on his own terms — without digital committees or public contributions. When asked if their ceremony would be a public affair, Rapudo playfully responded, “Maybe we already got married, or maybe we have not,” keeping fans guessing and the gossip mills turning.
