President Ruto Acknowledges Raila as a Once in a Generation Leader

This is president Ruto’s speech during the State Funeral of the Right Honorable Raila Amolo Odinga:

To Mama Ida, and your children – Rosemary, Raila Junior, and Winnie – as well as the larger Odinga family, led by our elder brother, Senator Dr Oburu Oginga, please accept the nation’s most heartfelt condolences on this immense loss.

Kenya stands with you in this moment of sorrow. We share in your inexpressible grief, but we also share in your pride for your husband, your father, your brother, and your kin who belonged not only to you, but also to all of us. Thank you for sharing him so generously with us, our families and the nation.

Amolo may no longer walk among us, but his spirit lives within every Kenyan and every African. Such was the depth of his
influence and impact that even in his absence, his presence endures.

Fellow Citizens, we gather here today not just to mourn the passing of Baba, but to celebrate his purpose, his vision, and his
ideals. He walked among us as a man, but he also charged among us as a movement, a movement for change, a movement
for justice, a movement for inclusivity, and a movement for a greater and better Kenya.

Allow me, fellow citizens, at this solemn moment, to also speak as an ordinary Kenyan, a father, a brother, and a fellow traveller in the long journey of our nation’s story.

I have come a long way with Baba. When I stood by him, with the other members of Pentagon, at a defining moment in his and
our nation’s history, I neither knew that one day we would find ourselves on opposite sides nor could I have imagined that, years later, he would stand beside me, this time to steady the nation and help anchor my leadership, culminating in the birth of a broad-based government.

I am truly and eternally grateful that our paths crossed and that we shared this journey together. We have been both
collaborators and competitors, friends and rivals, but always patriotic Kenyans, united by a dream greater than ourselves, a dream bigger than any partisan divide, a dream of our united motherland, Kenya.

As I have reflected on Raila’s legacy following his passing, I have entertained no doubt in my mind that history will judge him fairly and kindly because whenever the nation needed him to rise
above self, he always did unreservedly. Whenever Kenya needed a reason, he became the voice of reason courageously. And whenever the country needed a hand of reconciliation, he offered it without hesitation.

Perhaps one of the greatest lessons he taught us was this: In the noble task of statecraft and nation-building, there is room for all of us, competitors and collaborators, rivals and allies,
bound together by one higher purpose – the greater good of our Republic.

Fellow citizens, those who worked closely with the Hon Raila Amolo Odinga know that he was irrevocably stubborn in his
vision for a just, prosperous, and united Kenya, a nation where opportunity belongs to all and justice favours none.

In Tinga, Kenya found a reformer, a moral compass, and a reconciler. He proved that progress demands both courage and
patience; that we must be stubborn on the vision, but agile on the details, adjusting our means, our plans, and our strategies,
but never compromising our mission.

The gentleman we are bidding farewell today gave more to this country than most ever will. He endured years of imprisonment, exile, and political struggle not for the privilege of power, but for
the principle of service.

He bore the scars of his struggles with dignity and calm poise
and turned pain and suffering into purpose.

Jakom was also at home in the humblest of homes, and at ease
on the grandest of global stages. His heart belonged to the people; he shared in their pain, rejoiced in their victories, and
never lost faith in the people’s goodness.

Fellow mourners, one of Hon Odinga’s favourite songs was Jamaica Farewell by Harry Belafonte, a melody of longing and
gentle sorrow. He often broke into a dance, and with a big smile sang:

Round the bay of Mexico,
where the sun shines daily on the mountain top
I took a trip on a sailing ship,
and when I reached Jamaica,
I made a stop.
But I am sad to say,
I’m on my way,
Won’t be back for many a day.
My heart is down,
My head is turning around,
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town.

Today, those words ring with profound meaning, significance, and impact. Our elder statesman, Hon Odinga, is sailing on a ship, not to Jamaica, but to home beyond.

He will not be back with us for many a day. He leaves behind many little girls and boys, not in Kingston town,
but here in Nairobi, in Kisumu, in Mandera, in Mombasa, in Kakamega and in every village and valley across our land.

Baba has finished his race; he has kept the faith; he has served his people and humanity. It is our solemn prayer to the Almighty God that the soil of the
land which Hon Odinga so tirelessly served shall embrace him with grace; that the nation he sacrificed for shall eternally
cherish his memory; and that the people for whom he fought shall carry his dream forward.

Ladies and gentlemen, fellow citizens, when a man of the stature
of Baba, a towering patriot, a relentless reformer, a visionary statesman, and a selfless servant of the people departs from
among us, when a mighty Bongu tree falls among us, we are left in awe of a life so immense in purpose and impact.

And in that quiet moment of both boundless gratitude and unfathomable grief, we are rightfully bound to ask: From where shall another like him rise?

May the Almighty God comfort his family. And may the soul of the Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga rest in eternal peace.

ODM Slams “Fake News” Over Raila’s Health — Says He’s Abroad on Official Business, Not Hospitalised

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has come out swinging against claims that party leader Raila Odinga has been hospitalised or is battling an undisclosed illness. The party labelled the reports as “politically motivated lies” aimed at spreading fear and confusion among Kenyans.

🛫 Raila’s Office Speaks Out

In a statement released Sunday morning, Raila’s office confirmed that the former Prime Minister had indeed left the country on Friday evening, but insisted the trip had nothing to do with health issues.

“Hon. Raila travelled out of the country on Friday evening — one of many trips he has made this year, and certainly not the last,” the statement read.

“He definitely did not travel to Europe as reported by bloggers and broadcast by some media houses. He is not indisposed, as prayed for by his frustrated opponents.”

ODM accused certain media outlets and online personalities of spreading unverified rumours instead of seeking factual information.

⚔️ Political Games Behind the Rumours

The party further alleged that the false reports originated from “a well-coordinated misinformation campaign” led by political figures close to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

“It is unfortunate that political desperation has reached a level where opponents resort to spreading falsehoods about someone’s health. These tactics are not only unethical but also inhumane,” the statement added.

ODM also took a swipe at some mainstream media houses for airing AI-generated photos and treating them as authentic, calling it a “new low” in political propaganda.

👀 Why Raila Has Been Out of Sight

Raila, 80, has had a packed year, primarily focused on his African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship campaign. His last public appearance was in late September during a high-level meeting in Addis Ababa.

However, his two-week absence from the public eye ignited online speculation. The Star newspaper even ran a front-page story on Friday titled “Where Is Raila?” — which ODM dismissed as sensational and misleading.

The party clarified that Raila’s trip is “purely routine” and part of his ongoing international engagements.

🎉 ODM’s 20th Anniversary Postponed — But Not Because of Raila

ODM also addressed the postponement of its 20th anniversary celebrations, originally planned for October 10–12 in Mombasa, now rescheduled for November 14–16.

“The decision was made to allow for broader participation from more counties. It has nothing to do with the Party Leader’s personal schedule or health,” ODM clarified.

💬 Kenyans React Online

The statement set off a heated debate across social media. ODM loyalists rushed to defend Raila, accusing rivals of cheap propaganda, while sceptics questioned the lack of recent public appearances.

One X user posted:

“Stop spreading panic — Raila is fine. This is political desperation at its peak.”

Another countered:

“If he’s healthy, why not show proof? Kenyans deserve transparency.”

Meanwhile, supporters in Kisumu, Nairobi, and Mombasa expressed confidence that “Baba” is well and simply taking a deserved break.

“We know when he’s unwell. ODM has always been open with us — this is pure propaganda,” one fan said outside party headquarters.

🗣️ ODM’s Final Word

The party wrapped up its statement with a firm reassurance:

“When Raila Odinga is unwell, it has never been hidden. We urge Kenyans to treat these rumours with the contempt they deserve.”

As speculation continues to swirl online, ODM insists Raila is “fit, focused, and fully engaged” — gearing up for the party’s milestone celebrations and his continental political ambitions.

Raila Odinga to Kenyans: “What Happens After Ruto?”

Raila Odinga Defends Alliance with Ruto, Questions Calls for His Resignation

Raila Odinga has continued to justify his political collaboration with President William Ruto, urging Kenyans to prioritize stability over agitation.

Speaking in Machakos County on Saturday at the funeral of former military pilot Gitahi James, Odinga dismissed calls for Ruto’s resignation, questioning whether those demanding his removal have a concrete plan for the country’s future.

He argued that pushing for Ruto’s ouster without outlining a clear alternative is unproductive and emphasized the need for Kenyans to coexist peacefully until the 2027 general election. Odinga maintained that his partnership with Ruto aims to ensure stability during this period.

Defending His Alliance with Ruto

Odinga reiterated that the 10-point agreement between ODM and UDA, signed two weeks ago, is meant to tackle pressing national issues such as corruption, the high cost of living, and excessive taxation.

“Kenya is bigger than all of us, and democracy is a long-term process. It’s not instant coffee that you brew and drink immediately,” he remarked.

He also dismissed discussions about his 2027 presidential bid, stating that such debates are premature if instability prevails before then.

“What matters most is unity. There is no point in pushing for my candidacy in 2027 if, by then, the country is in turmoil. Kenyans must focus on maintaining peace between now and then,” Odinga asserted.

Addressing Economic Hardships

Acknowledging the economic struggles affecting Kenyans, Odinga pointed to rising living costs, heavy taxation, and rampant corruption—issues that the ODM-UDA agreement seeks to address.

“Many Kenyans are suffering. The cost of living is high, taxes are unbearable, and corruption is worsening. That’s why our 10-point agenda exists. This is not a betrayal. So, what do you want us to do? You keep chanting ‘Ruto must go!’ But after he leaves, then what?” he questioned.

Denying Betrayal Claims

Odinga has consistently defended his deal with Ruto, refuting accusations of betraying his supporters. He insists that his actions are aimed at securing economic reforms and national stability, rather than serving personal interests.

Despite his assurances, public reaction remains divided. Last weekend, Odinga faced backlash at Gusii Stadium, where many attendees walked out during his speech, expressing frustration over his political shift.

Raila Cancels Kamukunji Rally, Citing Presence Of Hired Goons

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has canceled a rally that was set to happen at Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi after receiving intelligence that the police planned to use live bullets during the rally.

Odinga said that some of his staff were deployed to set up the stage at the Kamukunji grounds on Wednesday morning and were attacked by the police. He also said that some of his workers were arrested on the grounds.

“Yesterday night, we received intelligence of a very heinous plan by Kenyan Kwanza to ferry goons who would attack peaceful attendees of our rally in Kamukunji,” Odinga said. “These goons had express order to shoot directly to the crowd while enjoying police protection.”

ODM Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna also blamed the police for interrupting preparations for the Kamukunji rally.

“Absolute madness from Police to disperse a peaceful assembly at Kamukunji,” Sifuna said in a tweet. “We have held dozens of rallies here and they have always been peaceful. What is the justification for this?”

The cancellation of the rally comes amid heightened political tensions in Kenya ahead of the August 9 general election. Odinga is the main opposition candidate in the election, and his supporters have been holding rallies across the country in recent months.

The police have frequently been accused of using excessive force to disperse opposition rallies. In February, Odinga was tear-gassed and arrested at a rally in Nairobi.

The cancellation of the Kamukunji rally is a major setback for Odinga’s campaign. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to hold any more rallies in the lead-up to the election.

Raila Odinga Thanks His DJ For Entertaining Protesters During ‘Maandamano’

Azimio La Umoja Coalition leader Raila Odinga has celebrated a DJ who plays at the weekly anti-government demonstrations.

Raila Odinga’s protests, which have now happened for the 2nd time, have led to massive gatherings of people who are Azimio supporters.

Apart from their cry for change during the protests, the protesters were being entertained with music as they gathered around to listen to Raila.

Raila warns police against 'disrupting' planned Monday demonstrations

‘Baba’ has now appreciated the DJ for entertaining them with good music through their hardships. He connoted that the protesters remained entertained.

Odinga shared a video showing how the DJ chose the perfect songs as they demonstrated.

“Thanks to the official DJ for consistently being on point and energising us with your music,” wrote Raila.

He however, did not divulge the name of the DJ.

The demos are set to continue this Thursday, with people decrying many issues, including the high living cost.

Raila Odinga Accuses Rigathi Gachagua Of Hiring Goons To Attack Protesters

The protests planned by former Prime minister Raila Odinga are set to take place yet again today. Netizens are hoping to get a better livelihood after carrying out the protests; which are set to be held every Monday & Thursday.

But the big problem is that it may be a nasty protest.

According to Raila, Riggy G has hired goons to attack protesters in the upcoming ‘maandamano’ set to take place today & all the other days.

He shared a statement accusing him of planning ‘mayhem’ against protesters.

”It has come to our attention that Mr. Rigathi Gachagua is currently  coordinating a major operation of mayhem against planned Azimio la Umoja protest rallies scheduled to take place in Nairobi tomorrow.

To realize his evil and bloody plans against otherwise peaceful rotesters, Mr. Gachagua has set up an armoury and command centres in two different locations at a house next to the Bomas of Kenya that belongs to a former Cabinet Secretary…

Their mission is to target Azimio Leaders in Nairobi including Hon. Babu Owino, Hon Opiyo Wandayi, Hon. Edwin Sifuna, Hon. Jeremiah Kioni, among others. When this planned mayhem comes to pass, Mr. Gachagua must be prepared to take full responsibility for it,” part of his statement read.

Raila & Gachagua have not been in good terms. And the paramount allegations are quite paramount. It’s only a matter of hours before we get to know whether it’s true. For now, Gachagua hasn’t commented on the same.
