Murugi Munyi on Leaving Her Job to Pursue Content Creation Full-Time

Murugi Munyi has opened up about her decision to quit formal employment and focus entirely on content creation.

How It All Began

In an interview with Citizen TV’s YouTube channel, the mother of three revealed that her journey started in 2017 after welcoming her second child.

“I had my second-born seven years after my first child and felt frustrated by the lack of helpful content for mothers. So, I began sharing my experiences—both struggles and wins. People started following me, but at the time, I didn’t see content creation as a career,” she shared.

Her perspective changed when she landed her first brand deal.

“The first brand I worked with paid me KSh 100,000. That’s when I realized I could actually make money from this. In 2018, I decided to leave my job and pursue content creation full-time.”

Rebranding from ‘Yummy Mummy’

Initially known online as ‘Yummy Mummy,’ Murugi rebranded in 2022 to expand her reach.

“There are many ‘Yummy Mummies’ out there, and when I started, my content was heavily focused on motherhood. Over time, I realized the name was limiting me—people only saw me as a mom, yet I do so much more.”

She also noticed that most of her brand deals were baby or maternity-related, which made her feel boxed in.

“I wanted to work with brands beyond motherhood, so I decided to use my real name, Murugi Munyi.”

What Sets Her Apart?

Murugi attributes her success to consistency and divine favor.

“I believe in God’s favor, but I also work hard. There’s no single day I go without posting a video or a reel.”

She pointed out that while some content creators go viral overnight, most have to put in the work over time before attracting brand deals.

“You need to stay consistent and deliver quality content. Brands trust creators who show up consistently.”

Advice to Aspiring Content Creators

For those struggling to break through, Murugi encourages patience and adaptability.

“If you’ve been creating content for a long time without making progress, maybe it’s time to switch things up. Experiment with different types of content and, most importantly, stay true to yourself.”

Does Content Creation Pay?

For Murugi, the answer is clear.

“Speaking for myself, content creation pays. I make millions every month.”

Murugi explained, “Anyway, I’ve missed you guys too. Though if you’ve been on TikTok, you’ve seen me! I actually deleted Instagram, y’all. So I’m out of touch with anything that’s happened over the past two weekends. I’ll get into those later, but for now, let me recap what the past couple of weeks of rest have been like for me.”

She shared that she’s been truly resting and capturing fewer moments than usual. “I’ve rested, guys. Like, really rested. I was capturing some moments but definitely not as much as I usually would, so let me see what I can piece together for this.”

Murugi began her recap from December 23, 2024, recounting her holiday season. On Christmas Eve, she spent the day unpacking after a recent move. “We spent Christmas Eve still doing lots of unpacking! I dashed into the mall to get some bits and bobs we needed for the house—basics like trash bags, hangers, storage bins, etc.,” she said.

Meanwhile, her husband, Zach, kept the kids entertained. “Daddy took Mukeni for a bike ride!”

Later, Murugi returned home and cooked one of the few meals she prepared during the holiday season. “Made some delicious air-fried chicken today! One of the only times I cooked this whole holiday season!”

Murugi also shared thoughtful gifts exchanged with her husband. “Zach got me the most gorgeous Aldo bag—something I’d been eyeing for a while. The other two were my own Christmas gifts to myself.”

In return, she bought him AirPods, which he had been needing. After their gift exchange, they headed out to celebrate with family.

Murugi Munyi discusses whether wealth is synonymous with being a good mother.

Murugi captioned her post, “It’s interesting how this was on my mind yesterday, and then I saw this. Motherhood/parenting and money are intertwined, which is why some people’s parenting experiences are smoother than others. It’s not necessarily due to a lack of knowledge; sometimes, it’s simply about having the financial means.”

In another post, she elaborated on her views, emphasizing that while having money is not the key to being a good mother, it undoubtedly makes the process easier. She based this conclusion on her own experiences.

Murugi compared raising her first-born son, Ethan, at the age of 19 to raising her youngest daughter, Mutana, now that she is in a more stable financial position. She noted, “When you’re not preoccupied with basic needs and can focus on giving your kids a fun life, parenting feels easier.”

That’s my perspective… what do you think?” she concluded, inviting her followers to engage in the discussion.

Murugi Munyi Shuts Down Wild By Murugi

Popular social media influencer Murugi Munyi has announced the closure of her fashion brand, Wild By Murugi. The decision comes as Munyi re-evaluates her priorities and focuses on other aspects of her life.

Launched with enthusiasm and backed by a significant investment of Sh2 million, Wild By Murugi quickly gained traction, thanks in part to Munyi’s large following. The brand’s popularity led to a move to a larger space at Green House Mall.

However, maintaining the business proved increasingly demanding for Munyi. She revealed that the decision to prioritize her mental health, through therapy, played a crucial role in the closure. Despite the challenges, she emphasized that her influencing career continues to thrive and provides a comfortable lifestyle.

Acknowledging her growing detachment from the business, Munyi assured her staff of her commitment to helping them find new job opportunities. She expressed confidence in their abilities and praised their work ethic.

While considering selling the business was an option, Munyi ultimately decided to close it due to its sentimental value. As she moves forward, she hopes to explore new business ventures.

The closure marks a significant chapter for Munyi, who remains optimistic about the future.

According to most delusional single mothers, this is proof that they can find love despite being in their 40s and well on their way to menopause and having the baggage of 5 children by different men like they are trying to collect different DNA samples for a Pokemon game.

What boggles the mind is why Yummy Mummy whose government name is Murugi Obwaka Munyi would be interested in the affairs of single mothers given she got married and did things the right way.
