Kenya Met Forecast: 19 Counties to Receive Rain as Cold Nights Persist Across Several Regions

The Kenya Meteorological Department has released its weekly weather forecast, outlining expected conditions across the country from July 21 to July 27.

According to the latest outlook, most parts of Kenya will experience generally dry weather throughout the week. However, several regions are expected to receive rainfall, while others will continue to experience chilly nights and cool daytime conditions.

19 Counties Expected to Receive Rain

The department forecasts rainfall in 19 counties, namely Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii, Nakuru, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Narok, Bomet, Nyamira, Vihiga, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Migori, Lamu, and Nyandarua.

Residents in these areas should expect occasional showers during the forecast period.

Cool, Cloudy Weather in Nairobi and Central Kenya

Parts of Nairobi and several counties in the Central and Mt. Kenya regions are also expected to experience intermittent cool and cloudy conditions accompanied by light rainfall.

The affected counties include Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, and Tharaka-Nithi.

Temperatures to Drop Below 10°C

The Meteorological Department has also warned of cold nights in several parts of the country, with minimum temperatures expected to fall below 10°C.

The advisory covers parts of Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nakuru, Baringo, Narok, Kajiado, Kiambu, and Taita Taveta.

Residents in these highland and Rift Valley counties have been advised to take necessary precautions against the cold, particularly during the night and early morning hours.

The latest forecast comes as Kenya continues to experience its typical July dry season, with much of the country remaining dry while western and central regions continue to record intermittent rainfall, a common weather pattern for this time of year.
