Kenya Power Announces Planned Electricity Interruptions for July 16

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity maintenance works that will affect parts of Nyeri, Meru, Mombasa and Kwale counties on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

The planned outages are part of routine network maintenance aimed at improving the reliability and stability of electricity supply. Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan ahead as power will be unavailable for several hours.

Nyeri County

Area: Chinga, Demka
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The outage will affect Chinga Boys, Chinga Girls, Demka Dairies, Major Wachira, Gichichi Market, Kagongo, Gathabari TBC, Kahutiri TBC, Father Kinyari, Kianue, Kagicha Market, Chinga Tea Factory, Kianguru TBC, Muirungi Market, Kiangombe TBC, Gathers, Kiamukanda, Mukurweini Water Works, Ruruguti Market, Maria Goretti School, Gikurwe and neighbouring customers.

Area: Ark Lodge, Amboni, Bondeni
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Areas to be affected include Ark Lodge, Bondeni, Kiguru Primary School, Amboni, Amboni Secondary School, Ruire, Murungaru Residence and adjacent customers.

Meru County

Area: Nchiru, Kagaene, Machangene
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The interruption will affect Nchiru, Meru University of Science and Technology, Cedar Hotel, Mwithanga, Kanthiari, Uringu, Kamaroo, Mwathene Dispensary, Kimachia Secondary School, Kamaruki, Kagaene Shopping Centre, Kithiri Polytechnic, Kimirii Centre, Mbeu Sub-District Hospital, Kaamu Primary School, Kiliati Mixed Secondary School, Machangene and surrounding areas.

Coast Region

Mombasa County

Area: Utange, Barawa, Mwembeni
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Customers expected to experience the outage include Joh Secondary Utange, Barawa, Petro Petrol Station, Wema Centre, Queens Hotel, Green Estate, Kiembeni, ACK Church Kiembeni, Bamburi Mwisho, Naivas Bamburi, Masters Bamburi, Ajanta Estate, Lake View Estate, Kerav Estate, Fisheries Apartments, Mwembeni and nearby customers.

Kwale County

Area: Msambweni, Vingujini
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The maintenance will affect Msambweni Police Station, Vingujini, KMTC Msambweni, Mwaembe, Msambweni Hospital, Msambweni Secondary School, Msambweni Beach House and adjacent customers.

Area: Samburu Town, Kinagoni
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Residents and businesses in Samburu Town, Vigurungani, Bangs, Mwakijembe, Kinagoni, Silaloni and surrounding areas will also be without electricity during the maintenance period.

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected locations to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled interruption and apologised for any inconvenience caused by the maintenance exercise.
