Sensational Singer, Asa Says she is Afraid of Fetish People

One of Nigeria’s most respected singers, Asa, recently performed at the Spice TV Lifestyle Concert in Lagos, where she made an interesting revelation.

At the event which had other singers like Adekunle Gold, Teni and others in attendance, Asa was said to have left the audience wanting more.

Just before her performance, she pulled off her shoes. A second thought however, tipped her off to be on the lookout. She therefore asked ordered a search for her shoes.

Asa isn’t cool with fetish people.

While she ordered a search for her shoes, the singer with a smile on her face revealed that she is afraid of fetish people. She also noted that she cannot leave a pair of shoes on stage.

She said:

I cannot leave a pair of my shoes on the stage. I am afraid of fetish people. Please, look for the other shoe before it gets lost.

If was not until a lady came on stage to pick the shoes that she was relieved.

Recall that this is the singer’s first performance in a long time.

Simi does not intend to be in competition with Asa.

It is no doubt that Simi and Asa are two great singers that have succeeded in making tremendous impacts in Nigerian music over the years.

This possibly is the inspiration behind an overzealous fan who tried to place the Joromi crooner above the beautiful guitarist.

The fan took to twitter to commend the X3M songstress, stating that she is gradually overtaking ‘Eyo’crooner in the music genre.

Simisola who obviously is not in for any competition, replied the fan by correcting her notion. According to her, no one displaces a queen like Asa. She would rather get another throne and queen alongside her, she wrote.

I will Sing Till I’m 80, Asa Declares

Asa is not ready to quit music anytime soon.

French-Nigerian Singer, Bukola Elemide popularly known as Asa has declared her intention to continue singing for a long time. The singer in a tweet wrote that she will keep singing until she attains the old age of 80.

I will sing tillI’m 80.

Well,that sounds like good news.

Asa has no doubt risen beyond bounds to become one of Nigeria’s favorite musicians. She came into the country with a peculiar style of music that was widely accepted by all.

As an only female child in a family of four children, Asa whose family returned to Nigeria while she was just Two returned to France, twenty years later. Her music is said to be influenced by some French acts whom she chose to model after. She also drew inspiration from Nigerian acts like Lagbaja, Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey and of course, the legendary Fela Kuti.

Asa’s first album was produced by Cobhams Emmanuel Asuquo whom she was introduced to by her manager, Janet.

Her first studio album, Asa won her the prestigious French Constantin Awards in 2008 where she was voted Best Fresh Talent.

The singer has since then released other albums; Live in Paris, Beautiful Imperfection and Bed of Stone.

Her music is loved by many across cultural boarders. The world will certainly love to see her dish out good music as long as she lives.
