Buruklyn Boys hit major milestone as album goes gold!

Drill duo Buruklyn Boyz have reached a major milestone in their music career after their debut album, East Mpaka London, officially achieved Gold certification.

The pair, made up of Ajay and Mr Right, celebrated the accomplishment by unveiling custom Gold plaques in recognition of the project’s success, which has now surpassed 30 million streams across digital platforms.

The achievement cements the album’s place among the standout releases that have contributed to the rise and visibility of Kenyan drill music both locally and internationally.

“The love and support have been unmatched,” the duo said while marking the milestone.

Released in 2022, East Mpaka London captured the stories, culture and energy of Nairobi’s Eastlands, helping introduce a distinctly Kenyan drill sound to audiences beyond the country’s borders.

Buruklyn Boyz built their reputation through street-inspired storytelling, hard-hitting flows and a style influenced by global drill trends while remaining deeply rooted in their local experiences.

Recognition Amid Ongoing Rap Beef

The Gold certification comes at a time when the duo remains at the centre of one of Kenya’s most talked-about rap rivalries involving rapper Toxic Lyrikali.

The dispute has evolved into a series of lyrical exchanges, with both camps releasing tracks aimed at one another.

Toxic Lyrikali fired shots through songs such as Dumpsite, while Buruklyn Boyz responded with tracks including Stima and Genje Sana, sparking intense debate among fans online.

The rivalry has dominated conversations within Kenya’s hip-hop scene, with supporters dissecting the artists’ lyrical prowess, influence and unique approaches to rap.

Despite the attention surrounding the feud, the latest achievement highlights the enduring commercial success of Buruklyn Boyz’s earlier work.

A Defining Project for Kenyan Drill

Since its release, East Mpaka London has been widely regarded as one of the projects that helped establish Buruklyn Boyz as leading figures in Kenya’s growing drill movement.

The album successfully connected stories from Nairobi’s estates with the broader drill culture that has gained popularity around the world.

Their success also reflects the increasing role of streaming platforms in helping Kenyan artists expand their reach beyond national borders and connect with international audiences.

The 30 million-plus streams recognised through the Gold certification represent years of consistent work, audience engagement and music that has resonated with listeners both at home and abroad.

For Ajay and Mr Right, the milestone serves as a reminder of the impact their music has made beyond social media discussions and rap battles.

As Kenyan drill continues to evolve, the success of East Mpaka London stands as another significant chapter in the genre’s growth and its growing influence within the country’s music industry.

Buruklyn Boyz members announce they have more ammo to release against Toxic Lyricali

Mr Right of the drill group Buruklyn Boyz has confirmed that he has several unreleased diss tracks aimed at fellow rapper Toxic Lyrikali, further intensifying anticipation within Kenya’s growing drill music scene.

Buruklyn Boyz, made up of Ajay and Mr Right, are widely recognised for helping popularise UK-inspired drill music in Nairobi through hard-hitting street narratives and aggressive flows rooted in Buruburu culture. Their music has positioned them among the most influential acts in Kenya’s modern rap scene.

Speaking during an interview with TikTok creator Saint Owino on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Mr Right revealed that the diss tracks are already completed and only waiting for release.

“I know my fans are waiting for me to release more and more diss tracks, and I can confirm that I already have several of them ready,” he said.

According to the rapper, he intends to release the songs gradually instead of dropping everything at once, saying he wants fans to fully enjoy each track individually.

“The only thing left is the release because the work of writing and recording is already done. I just don’t want to bombard fans with everything at once; I prefer releasing them gradually so people can enjoy them properly,” he added.

Mr Right also hinted that the lyrical rivalry with Toxic Lyrikali is far from over, suggesting there is still much more to come as the feud unfolds.

“The guy we were beefing with, Toxic Lyrikali, will have to surrender because there is a lot coming,” he stated.

Beyond music, the rapper also opened up about his personal life and interests. He revealed that many fans are often surprised to learn that he is Muslim, describing it as one of the biggest misconceptions people have about him.

“Many people don’t know this about me, but I ride bikes as a hobby, and I am also Muslim,” he shared.

The artist further disclosed that he enjoys drifting cars and biking outside music, saying the activities are part of his lifestyle away from the spotlight.

Mr Right also addressed ongoing debates about Buruburu’s identity, dismissing claims that the estate is not part of Nairobi’s Eastlands region.

“Some people say Buruburu is not part of Eastlands, but that is not true. Let them take a compass and check where east is,” he said.

He concluded by encouraging young people from the hood to remain focused, work hard, and prioritise faith in their pursuit of success.

“My advice to hood boys is that you should always do your best and put God first because that is how you unlock doors and succeed in life,” he added.
