Taita Taveta governor Granton Samboja has offered scholarship to 200 bright students from poor backgrounds. The former journalist promised to boost education during the campaign period.
Samboja launched Imarisha Elimu Initiative in line with his campaign promise. The governor on Wednesday met more 200 students who benefited from his initiative.
The beneficiaries were high school students from various schools in the county. The scholarship will cater for students’ fees for the three terms.
“Agenda yangu ni kuimarisha elimu katika kaunti yetu. Kupitia agenda hio wanafunzi zaidi ya mia mbili leo wanapata fursa ya kuenda shuleni,” governor Granton Samboja said in his address to the beneficiaries of his initiative.
Pass your exams
The governor urged the beneficiaries to maintain good performance in school. He said that he expects them to excel in exams come end of first term.
“I only expect one thing from you, kupita mtihani kwanzia first term,” Samboja told the beneficiaries.
