Renowned media personality and advocate Janet Mbugua has officially announced her departure from the Nation Media Group (NMG), marking the end of her tenure on the popular morning show, Fixing the Nation.
The announcement was made during her final broadcast on Friday, April 17, 2026. Mbugua has been a core part of the morning team for just over a year, co-hosting the program alongside Eric Latiff and Mariam Bishar.
A Platform for Advocacy
Reflecting on her time with the show, Mbugua noted that joining the NMG team was a strategic move to bridge the gap between grassroots advocacy and mainstream media. She joined the program during a period of high social and political engagement in Kenya, seeking to use her voice to drive national discourse.
“It was coming off the back of a very intense season in the country that I had already been very vocal about,” Mbugua explained. “It just felt like a natural fit to continue with that advocacy and active citizen lens and bring it onto a mainstream platform.”
About “Fixing the Nation”
The show, which airs weekdays from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, has established itself as a critical forum for discussing the challenges facing Kenyans. By prioritizing expert analysis, public participation, and solution-oriented conversations, the program aims to go beyond highlighting problems to actively seeking ways to “fix” the country’s socio-political landscape.
While Mbugua did not immediately reveal her next professional move, her exit marks a significant shift for the flagship morning program as it continues to navigate the evolving media space.
