Former inmate reveals how rampant homosexuality and rape are at Kamiti Prison

A former Kamiti Maximum Security Prison inmate has sent shockwaves across TikTok after opening up about a harrowing ordeal that many viewers described as heartbreaking and disturbing.

From Hunger and Hardship to Kamiti Hell

Speaking in an emotional interview with Itugi TV on Wednesday, January 7, Patrick Kamau revisited a painful past shaped by poverty, abandonment, and survival.

Raised by a single mother, Kamau said his childhood was defined by hunger and struggle. With no stable income at home, meals were often uncertain, and school fees became an impossible burden. After completing Class Eight, he was forced to drop out.

“We used to lack food,” he recalled, explaining how desperation pushed him into survival mode early in life.

Illegal Hustle That Changed Everything

Trying to escape poverty, Kamau turned to illegal fishing at Lake Naivasha—a move that would later cost him his freedom. In 2019, he was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison, walking into Kamiti as a young man with little understanding of what awaited him.

He was released in 2024 at just 26 years old—but not without scars.

The ‘Kind’ Inmate With a Dark Agenda

Kamau’s story took a chilling turn when he described meeting another inmate while working in the prison kitchen. The man appeared generous, offering him food and protection—luxuries in a place where hunger is weaponised.

“I thought I was lucky because I was eating well,” Kamau said, admitting the comfort briefly numbed the brutal reality of prison life.

But the kindness, he later learned, came with strings attached.

A Prison ‘Marriage’ He Never Chose

According to Kamau, the inmate later demanded “payment” for the favours. Confused and powerless, Kamau said he had nothing to offer—until the man made his intentions clear.

The inmate allegedly demanded sexual submission, went as far as presenting Kamau with a ring, and declared him his “wife.”

The interviewer was visibly stunned, but Kamau narrated the experience with an uneasy laugh—one that many viewers later said masked deep trauma.

‘Weddings’ Behind Bars?

Even more shocking, Kamau claimed such arrangements are not rare inside Kamiti. He alleged that inmates sometimes hold informal “wedding” ceremonies.

His own so-called “wedding,” he said, happened on a day when rice was being served—adding dark humour as he recalled that the food portions were unusually generous.

‘I Left It to God’

With years still left on his sentence and no power to fight back, Kamau said survival became his only focus.

“I left everything to God,” he said quietly, explaining that access to food and safety outweighed everything else.

TikTok Explodes With Emotion

Since the clip went viral, TikTok users have flooded the comments with shock, anger, and sympathy.

Many described Kamau’s experience as exploitation, accusing the system of failing vulnerable inmates. Others said they could see the pain in his eyes, noting that the trauma still lingers.

Calls to support Kamau as he rebuilds his life have grown louder, with users urging Kenyans to help him find healing, dignity, and a fresh start.

As one commenter put it:
“That wasn’t a marriage. That was survival.”
