The High Court has issued orders barring the government from revoking John Jomo Kenyatta’s firearms license. The court also barred the Firearms Licensing Board from compelling Jomo to surrender his firearm without following due process.

Jomo had filed an application under a certificate of urgency to stop the state’s plans to withdraw his firearm illegally. He argued that he had not been informed of the reasons for the intended revocation of his firearms despite being in possession of a license.

The court granted Jomo’s application and ordered the government to follow due process before revoking his firearms license. The court also allowed Jomo to officially lodge a substantive suit against the Chief Licensing Officer, the Firearms Licensing Board, and the Attorney General.

The case will be heard on a date to be fixed.

Dozens of police officers raided the home of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s eldest son, Jomo, in Karen on Friday.

The police said they were searching for weapons, but Kenyatta condemned the raid as an intimidation tactic by the government.

In a live address from his son’s home, Kenyatta said that the raid was “an act of impunity” and that it was “clear that the government is now going after my family.”

Kenyatta said that the government had recently withdrawn security from his mother, Mama Ngina, and that this was part of a pattern of intimidation.

He called on President William Ruto to “come for me if it is me that you want” and to stop targeting his family.

The raid is the latest in a series of attacks on Kenyatta’s family since he left office in April. In May, a group of men attacked Kenyatta’s mother’s home in Gatundu, and in June, a group of men attacked Kenyatta’s nephew, Muhoho Kenyatta.

Kenyatta has accused Ruto of being behind the attacks, but Ruto has denied any involvement.

The raid on Jomo’s home has drawn widespread condemnation from Kenyans, who have accused the government of harassment and intimidation.
