Ndalo Media is reportedly going to shut down

According to Sowetan newspaper, Khanyi Dhlomo has announced that Ndalo Media will shut its doors at the end of January.

In an apparent voice recording given to Sowetan by a source, Khanyi can be heard confirming the news.

It is also being reported that the Ndalo employees are yet to be paid their November salaries.

Here is what the Voice note said

“Given just where we are and the various conversations we’ve had, I’ve decided to close down this company effective as of the 31st of January next year [2019],” Dhlomo was heard saying in an audio recording provided to Sowetan by a source.

“Today is going to be the day one of notice, so this is the proposed notice of redundancy which each person in this company is going to get,” said Dhlomo referring to a document which was being handed to staff.

“And what we’ll do is allow everyone 30 days which will take us to about the 17th of January to look at this, go through it. If you have thoughts and ideas about how this process could be handled you have the next 30 days or so to think about,” she told the staff.

Khanyi Dhlomo company in a financial crisis

Khanyi Dhlomo company Ndalo Media is facing liquidation over a R13 million debt owed to printers.

A screengrab being circulated says that the employees will be paid on a later date due to the “company’s financial situation”.

The screen grab reads: “Good morning team. I had hoped to be in a position for us to release salaries today but unfortunately, this won’t be the case. Please work on 7 December as the latest release but I will endeavour to finalise the release earlier. I’m concurrently finalising the December salaries so that they are ready on or before 20 December as promised. As the business’ revenues are currently not at a level that covers even the basic costs, the salary process is a negotiation (compromised by recent media reports) and not a straight a straightforward order of business as it should be  and has been for the past 10 years.”

Khanyi is yet to make any remarks on the allegations.
