Mmatema Moremi venturing into new show

Ex-Idols SA contestant Mmatema Moremi has announced that she will be hosting a new gospel show called Gospel Unplugged.

“I feel really blessed to be part of this show‚ considering it’s a brand new show and nothing will be compared to it and I’ll not be compared to any other presenter. I’ve been doing my show on One Gospel every New Year’s Eve but this one is big because it will be playing every Sunday.”

Present

It was her short stint at One Gospel’s New Year’s Eve show that showed what she is made of and gave her a chance to be chosen as the host.

“One of the things I wanted to do outside music was act and present. I got a role to act on SABC 2 alongside Aubrey Pooe‚ Warren Masemola and many great actors. That role really did open my mind and made me believe I can now do anything. I’ve always wanted to present‚” she said.

Mmatema has explained that for her, she is all about embracing the gift of versatility.

“I’ve been blessed with the gift of versatility and I do not limit myself to one genre. My album is titled Love Praise Worship it has songs for everyone and that is what I believe in.”

Mmatema set to Launch her Album during Easter

Mmatema Moremi is set to release her album Love Praise Worship in time for Easter.

Moremi, who made a name for herself after losing out on the Idols 2015 title to Karabo Mogane, said she is impressed by how her digital album, which was released in December, has been received.

“The expectation was that people wanted me to do pop music. I had to really give myself time to see if this is what I wanted to do and I just could not stop thinking about inspirational gospel music, so I decided to go that route and that is why it took so long,” she said.

Moremi said although her current album features more gospel tracks, she still aspires of doing more pop music and featuring Cassper Nyovest in her music.

“After doing a song with DJ Tira, I realised that there is nothing wrong with doing different genres. I don’t do a specific genre, I do music and I still do a lot of covers with my corporate gigs.”

Though she could not get into more details, Moremi is currently working on a gospel show that will be aired on SABC in the next few weeks.

Moremi said she has been forced to push back her album tours to accommodate her new show. “We had to put the whole launch of the show on hold for now. When we are done with that [gospel show], the date should be available. Between May, June and July I should be able to do my tour.”

Although her current album includes more gospel music, Moremi hopes to do more pop music and even feature Cassper Nyovest.

“After doing a song with DJ Tira, I realised that there is nothing wrong with doing different genres. I don’t do a specific genre, I do music and I still do a lot of covers with my corporate gigs.”

She has even pushed her album tours for her new show.

“We had to put the whole launch of the show on hold for now. When we are done with that [gospel show], the date should be available. Between May, June and July I should be able to do my tour.”
