Life coach Muthoni wa Mukiri has a message for Nairobi women regarding their dating choices, hoping to offer advice that could prevent future relationship issues.
In a video posted on her social media, Muthoni addressed women who find themselves as “side chicks.”
“If you’re a side chick and expect your man to leave his wife for you, remember, you’re dating someone who’s cheating on his spouse,” she said.
She continued with a warning: “When you become his wife, those complaints he made about his wife—whether it’s her looks or personality—will likely surface with you as well once you’re living together.”
She added, “That man doesn’t have the commitment to work through marriage challenges; he’ll replace you as easily as he did his wife.”
Muthoni further highlighted the “80/20 rule,” explaining that men in such situations usually find 80% of what they need at home—comfort, stability, family life—and only seek the 20% elsewhere, such as excitement or a “honeymoon phase” with a side relationship.

“So, you’re just the 20%, a temporary thrill. This rarely sustains a marriage,” she noted. “That’s why men who leave their wives often return to them, if they’ll have them. Even second marriages we see, particularly those with public figures, rarely last.”
She concluded with advice: “Take care of yourself and stay clear of married men.”
