Oscar Pistorius Now a Changed Man

Former athlete Oscar Pistorius who is serving time in jail for the murder of his girlfriend, is now a changed man. He is now trying to offer meaning and hope to fellow inmates by sharing Christianity.

According to his father, he is finding new purpose, and now leads Bible study and a prayer group.

“Oscar leads the studies and is able to accommodate those who aren’t so familiar with the Bible to explain the meaning of all the verses.

“He (Oscar) can feel he is making a difference to others who really needed a difference to be made – to give their lives meaning, purpose and some hope. As a result, things have also improved for him.”

Oscar has been given a vegetable garden too.

“Oscar, being an artist, didn’t just do square blocks of vegetables, he has designed a face – the hair is certain type of veggies and the ears and mouths are something else. It’s quite incredible.”

In 2013, Oscar shot his model girlfriend when he fired four times through the door of his toilet. He had initially been sentenced to six years in jail, but it was later extended to 13.

Oscar Pistorius temporarily released from prison

Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius was temporarily released from prison, to attend his grandfather’s funeral.

The star, is currently serving a 15 year sentence for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, five years ago.

Pistorius’ grandfather died last month at the age of 101, after going to hospital for a routine operation.

After he died, Pistorius who is said to have been devastated, applied to the Department of Correctional Services to attend his memorial.

He was then freed on ‘compassionate grounds’ to attend the service.

This is not the first time the star is being allowed out on compassionate grounds. In 2016, he attended his maternal grandmother’s memorial. In August last year, he also attended the funeral of his other grandmother.

Being allowed out for a third time has therefore raised eyebrows as to whether Pistorius may be getting preferential treatment.

The Department of Correctional Services has however come out saying: ‘An application has been made but it has not yet been fully considered.

“The Head of Centre has to consider a number of factors before an inmate is temporarily placed outside of a correctional facility as that carries risks.”

Reeva Steenkamp’s family in utter dismay over ‘Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer’ film

Following the fatal shooting of then girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, the movie Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer is set to premiere on Saturday, 11th November.

Oscar and the late Reeva in happier times

However not everyone is thrilled about the movie reliving what happened.

Reeva Steenkamp’s family and Carl Pistorius, brother to Oscar Pistorius, have expressed shock and dismay over the movie.

It was revealed through their family lawyer Tania Koen, that Barry, the late Reeva’s father got to learn of the film via social media, when people sent him links to the film’s trailer.

“It was specifically shocking for Barry who found out about the film via a link that someone sent him on Facebook.

“They were and still are very upset. Understandably, it’s very shocking. Especially since the movie is meant to be from the perspective from June and Reeva and they weren’t contacted at all. There was no input.”
