Somizi and Khanyi Mbau friendship on the rocks

Khanyi Mbau and Somizi Mhlongo’s friendship has been the envy of many over the years, however its being reported that things took a downward turn between them over “money issues”.

As far as industry besties go, Khanyi and Somizi have served #friendshipgoals to fans for years. However the pair seemed to have faded into thin air with less and less posts together on social media, sending the rumour mill into a frenzy.

Sunday Sun reported the pair’s friendship has been on the rocks because Khanyi allegedly owes Somizi some cash. The tabloid claimed that Khanyi borrowed money from the Idols SA judge and allegedly played hide and seek when it was time to pay up.

Khanyi and Somizi were once inseparable and would travel together, party together, slay together (fashion) and in addition to their Metro FM gig (which they co-hosted), they also MC’d a couple of events together.

A look through their social media accounts reveals that their pictures of each other seem to have dried up. A complete u-turn compared to a time last year when both their social media accounts was overflowing with snaps together.

Somizi speaks on Bonang Metro FM departure

Somizi has shared his thoughts on Bonang’s departure from Metro FM earlier this year, claiming that he would not have stormed off because he is believer of not “burning bridges”.

Bonang shocked radio fans in April when she decided to resign just hours after getting a new co-presenter on her Metro FM radio show in a reshuffle at the station.

When asked about his thoughts on his former friend’s decision, Somizi said that he would never have stormed out of a job.

“I am big on respecting everyone’s decisions but if it had to happen to me, I am a big believer in not burning bridges. Even if I get to a point where I hate being here and I am treated in a certain way that I do not like, I would never, I am not the type of person who storms out, especially professionally,” he said on his Metro FM show.

He said it was important to remember that the station would not be run by the same people forever and the person may want to return in the future.

“For me, it is more about wanting to leave in a way that if I wanted to come back, the door would still be open. An establishment will never be run by the same person forever. So, if I have a problem with my station manager today, I would still not storm out. I would say: ‘It is time for me to go. Thank you very much. Goodbye’. In two year’s time there will be someone else and if I come back they will ask me how did I leave.

“For me, I wouldn’t advise anyone to leave like that, but each to his own”

Bonang and Somizi were once inseparable but parted ways last year.

Somizi wants people to stop stereotyping gay men

Somizi may have besties who are straight and married, but the star says the pair have never tried to be romantic, and slammed the idea that gay people just want to get into everyone’s pants.

The Idols SA judge told Trending SA this week that it upset him when people thought that he and his friend TT Mbha could not be friends because of his sexuality.

Somizi Remarks

“What is wrong with two people who are genuinely friends but their sexuality is different? What is wrong with two people who are friends, or lovers, but their races are different? Let’s stop this stigma. Not every gay man wants to be in your pants. Also, we have a type,” he said.

Somizi is happily in a relationship and told listeners on his Metro FM show earlier this year that he was planning to marry and possibly raise a child with his partner.

“I still want to have another child. (The decision comes) out of me being selfless because my partner doesn’t have a child and he wants a child,” Somizi revealed.

He slammed suggestions that the couple had already got engaged and said he was trying to keep his relationship private.

“I do it to protect the person I am seeing. Can you imagine if you knew all the people I had dated before, they will forever now be known as Somizi’s boyfriend or Somizi’s  ex. They lose their identity based on the person I am. I will do everything in my power to protect his identity. My relationship is not a secret, it is private,” Somizi said.

Somizi Weighs in on Emtee’s Manhood Drama

Somizi is the latest person to weigh in on Emtee manhood drama.Emtee accidentally flashed his manhood on instagram live .

Somizi commented on the incident  on his Metro FM Breakfast show with DJ Fresh on Tuesday, Somizi claimed that the incident was a result of Emtee being surrounded by “yes friends” and people that didn’t have his best interests at heart. He further questioned the company the rapper kept and advised him to get new friends.

“For me, it was a mistake but one that could have been avoided from the onset. It worries me when I see a career that is doing well and a talented young man making stupid mistakes because you’re surrounded with fans that are disguised as friends.”

He also weighed in on the jokes being made about Emtee’s manhood.

“Console yourselves all you want. All I am saying is if you are short, you can only stretch your arm to a certain extent. If you are tall you are tall,” he said.

Commenting on the incident  to Tshisa Live after an Instagram Live video showing his private parts went viral on Monday, Emtee explained that he had been using the bathroom while speaking to fans when the mishap happened.

“I was in the toilet and answering fans’ questions on Instagram live. I needed to pee but without thinking I used the same hand I was holding my phone while I was doing my thing and used the same hand to flush. I didn’t even think about it until I realised what I had done and I immediately apologized. I was like ‘oh, no!,'” he said.

The Pearl Thusi hitmaker described the incident as a “big mistake” but said he was unfazed by the jokes about him.

“I have decided to get laser eye treatment in a few week’s time. I have booked it already,” he said.

Somizi’s right eye started to itch a while ago and had become uncomfortable, but he did not get treatment because he was scared it would involve needles.

Bonang’s Revised Book Does not Reference Somizi and Euphonik

It was reported that both  Euphonik  and Somizi had turned to their legal teams to have their names removed from Bonang’s book.It was later reported that Euphonik had successfully interdicted to keep his name out of Bonang’s emotional memoir, “From A to B”.

However, according to Bonang and her team, there is nothing to remove because his name was not mentioned in the first place.

Her brand manager, Sylvester Chauke confirmed that there was no mention of Euphonik anywhere in “From A to B”

“If you’ve read the book, you will agree that the name Euphonik is not mentioned anywhere in Bonang’s book. So we can’t comment on his name being removed because it was never there. Anything else is alleged and I can’t comment on alleged things,”

In the Revised book Bonang talks about her abusive relationship in which most people assume its referencing to Bonang relationship to Euphonik. However Euphonik’s name is not mentioned anywhere in the book.

Not a Bestseller Yet:Exclusive Books Tells Somizi

Choreographer and Idols Judge Somizi announced to his fans on instagram that his book Dominoes: Unbreakable Spirit is now the best selling book.

“So we have just been told that my book is the highest-selling autobiography in the country ever at Exclusive Books. I wanna break the African record which was set by Harry Potter. Am I being too ambitious? No. I don’t think so, because I have God and you,” Somizi told fans on Instagram.

Exclusive books General Manager told Tshisa Live

That although Somizi’s book was a massive hit with audiences, it was “below the numbers needed to break the record” for highest-selling biography ever.

“We never discuss sales with the media or even the authors so we did not notify him that his book was the highest-selling autobiography. His book did extremely well but the highest-selling autobiography was Nelson Mandela’s Long Walk to Freedom and it (Somizi’s book) was below the numbers needed to break that record,” Ben explained.

Despite this, Ben said that Somizi’s book was a “best-seller” and continues to rake in the sales, two and a half months after its release.

“It was the best-selling book across all genres for at least two weeks after its release and even now it is still in the top three most popular titles sold by the company,” Ben said.
