Tina Knowles-Lawson, the mother of singer Beyoncé and a fashion designer, has filed for divorce from her husband of eight years, actor Richard Lawson.
Knowles-Lawson, 69, filed for divorce on Wednesday, citing irreconcilable differences. She listed their date of separation as Tuesday.
The fashion designer has also asked the court to end the court’s ability to award spousal support to either her or Lawson, 76, and to restore her name to Celestine Knowles.
Knowles-Lawson and Lawson married in 2015 after dating for two years. They had no children together, but Lawson has a daughter, actress Bianca Lawson, from a previous marriage.
The couple’s divorce comes after eight years of marriage. They were last seen together in March at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
A representative for Knowles-Lawson has not yet commented on the divorce filing.
