Tumisho Masha spends night in prison

Actor Tumisho Masha was reportedly “wrongfully” arrested by police in Polokwane and thrown in a prison cell, after apparently breaking a court order obtained by his estranged wife, Zozibini.

Tumisho and Zozibini have been embroiled in a nasty public split, with charges of assault against the actor being reinstated late last year.

Zozibini also obtained a court order against Tumisho, preventing him from taking their daughter out of the province without her permission.

According to Sunday Sun, Tumisho took their daughter to a wedding in Polokwane, which led to cops swooping in on him.

The publication reports that police sources who were privy to the case told it that police were apparently only supposed to take the child away from him, but went too far.

“They later realised that the court order didn’t say he should be arrested. Their only job was too take the child back,” a police source said.

Tumisho confirmed that he was arrested and spent 13 hours in a cell. “I was attending a wedding with my family and when I handed the child over to police, as per our arrangement, I then got arrested and was locked up,” he said.

Police in Polokwane apparently declined to discuss the “wrongful” arrest.

In October last year, the National Prosecuting Authority reportedly confirmed that assault charges laid against Tumisho by Zozibini had been reinstated, a year after they were initially laid.

The charges were laid after an altercation between them allegedly turned violent in 2016, but were later withdrawn.

Tumisho Masha to appear in court in November

Tumisho Masha is expected to appear in court come 7th November, 2017.

This is in regard to claims of assault laid by his estranged wide, Zozibini Mtonga.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokeaperson Phindile Louw said, “Tumisho Masha will appear in court on November 7 at the Randburg Magistrates Court. He’s been charged with assault and malicious intent to property (MIP).

Zozibini first lay charges against Masha in September 2016 after an argument they had had. She later withdrew the charges, but later reinstates them after he reportedly violated a court order.

Zozibini early this year took to her social media to talk about the abuse.

“I am an abuse survivor. I used to be an abuse volunteer. I was in a relationship, a marriage where I entertained abuse at all levels. I accepted a husband that would break me down in front of my baby, my family, his family, his friends and in public. I stayed with someone who would tell me in front of our baby girl that he was my biggest achievement in life and that no one can protect me from him. Someone who would shove me while I held our baby and drag me by my hair while she tried to hold onto my leg.”

Masha said he trusted the legal system and whatever course it would choose for him.
