Playwright Zakes Mofokeng passes on

The Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) yesterday announced the death of 79 year old Zakes Mofokeng.

He was an actor, musician and poet, and had been living with Parkinson’s disease.

“He was checked in an old age home in Yeoville‚ Johannesburg‚ at the time of his death on Monday September 17‚” the party said.

Zakes is best known for his play, Never Again staged in 1995.

He leaves behind his three sons, Mpho‚ Tokelo and Tokollo, and a stepdaughter‚ Hope.

Zakes will be buried on Saturday‚ September 29.
