2018 Mzansi’s sexiest man and woman are…

Every year, the Sowetan gathers its readers to vote for hot celebrities nominated at the years Mzansi sexiest. This year was no different. Zola Nombona and Loyiso MacDonald, were crowned as this years Mzansi’s Sexiest woman and man.

Zola Nombona

Nombona managed to beat fellow actresses Michelle Mosalakae, Motsoaledi Setumo, Makgotso M, Ayanda Thabethe and Bontle Modiselle.

“This is such an amazing way to start my year. I’m ready to conquer 2018. My hard work in the gym has paid off,” an ecstatic Nombona gushed.

“I’ve been working out a lot and I’ve gotten to a place where I’ve started understanding my body and what my sexy is. Your sexy is you and embracing your uniqueness.

“This is going to bring so much attention – but such amazing pressure. For me it’s about showing the people how important following your dream and working hard can do. I am where I am because I respect my art and people.

“I want to use this title in a way that’s going to change the perception of Mzansi’s Sexiest. It’s not just about celebrities posing in their swimsuits. They should be a responsibility that comes with it to society.”

Loyiso MacDonald

On the other hand, MacDonald’s competition was Tiisetso Thoka, Donovan Goliath, Jesse Suntele, Solo and Cedric Fourie.

“I have no clue why people find me sexy. I guess it’s a subjective thing, people will find something [sexy] about you and that’s cool,” he said coyly.

“It’s probably because of my character on The Queen (Kagiso Khoza). I’m sure my character (Ray) on Zabalaza helped too because people like bad boys.

“For me it’s always about the work, I consider myself first and foremost an actor. But this is so good for publicity and putting my name out there for people who are not familiar with my work. I appreciate it so much.”

Past winners include Boity Thulo, Terry Pheto, Babes Wodumo, Pearl Moiadie and Blue Mbombo.

Past male winners include Vuyo Dabula, Zwelethu Dube and Siyabonga Thwala.

Congratulations to Zola Nombona and Loyiso MacDonald.

Zola Nombona reveals how Kgomtso Christopher helped her in her career

Most people complain about Katlego Christopher ‘pull her down syndrome’ in the entertainment industry, but Zola Nombona has highlighted fellow actress Katlego Christopher helped her in her career.

The inspiring conversations was sparked by Kgomotso’s remarks about the performance displayed by actresses on the theatre stage production Children’s Monologues.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Zola shared the story of how Kgomotso gave her a chance in her first audition back in 2013 for Intersexions when she auditioned in front of her.

“It was back in 2013 and I was glad it was Kgomotso, because she works with merit when she was searching for talent. It didn’t matter that I was female or not. That is the type of person that she is. She looks out for the art,” she said.

Zola added that if people look  at female-to-female relationships in the industry, the support that she has received from the established actress was “amazing”.

“In this industry, there’s a lot of competition between females because we all want a piece of the pie and sometimes it looks like it’s not enough. But having someone like Kgomotso, who has literally supported me from day one and have them around to see me grow into the potential they saw in me, is amazing.”
