TIFA Poll: Ruto Leads 2027 Race as Edwin Sifuna Gains Ground, Kalonzo’s Support Slips

President William Ruto remains the frontrunner in the race for the 2027 General Election, according to the latest survey by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA).

The poll shows Ruto commanding 24 percent support among respondents, maintaining his position as the preferred presidential candidate despite a shifting political landscape.

Sifuna Registers Biggest Gain

One of the survey’s standout findings is the rise of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, whose popularity has increased significantly over the past two months.

According to the poll, Sifuna’s support has climbed from 10 percent to 15 percent, marking a five-percentage-point increase and positioning him among the fastest-rising political figures ahead of the 2027 contest.

The survey suggests the ODM secretary-general has continued to gain traction as national conversations around the next presidential election gather momentum.

Kalonzo Records Decline

In contrast, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has seen his support decline during the same period.

The TIFA survey indicates that Kalonzo’s backing has dropped from 19 percent to 13 percent, representing a six-point decline over the last two months.

The results point to changing political dynamics as potential contenders continue to position themselves ahead of the next General Election.

Ruto Still Leads the Field

Despite the shifts among other political leaders, President Ruto remains the candidate with the highest level of support at 24 percent.

The latest findings provide an early snapshot of voter preferences more than a year before the official campaign period is expected to begin, with political alignments and alliances likely to continue evolving in the run-up to 2027.
