Betty Bayo’s Mother Declares Herself Next of Kin, Demands Postmortem and Immediate Removal of Grandchildren
A fresh wave of tension has emerged following the death of Betty Bayo after her mother, Joyce Wairimu, released a firm public statement declaring herself the rightful next of kin and warning Betty’s widower, Tash, against laying claim to any of her late daughter’s property.
Wairimu insisted that all of Betty’s belongings legally belong to her children, not the widower, and demanded their immediate surrender to the family.
At the centre of her concerns are the safety and wellbeing of her grandchildren, whom she believes should not remain in the house where they are currently staying. She called for the children to be urgently relocated, citing fears that Betty’s daughter, in particular, may be unsafe or vulnerable if left in the present environment.
Wairimu further demanded a comprehensive postmortem to determine the exact cause of Betty’s death. She said the family needs “clarity, truth, and closure” and vowed that the matter will not be allowed to fade without answers.
She urged Pastor Victor Kanyari, the children’s father, to immediately begin formal police procedures to secure the children, recover all essential documents belonging to them and to Betty, and ensure they are transferred to a safer location.
While she noted that she may not be able to travel to Kenya immediately, Wairimu pledged to pursue the issue fully through legal channels. Her wish is for the children to be placed under the care of her other daughter, Wanjiku, whom she believes can provide the safety, stability, and emotional support they urgently need.
The unfolding situation adds a new layer of complexity to an already emotional and closely watched family matter, as calls intensify for transparency surrounding Betty’s death and protection for the children she leaves behind.
