Eric Omondi Begins Construction Of Free Facilities After Successful Mombasa Trek
Comedian-turned-philanthropist Eric Omondi has officially broken ground on his highly anticipated rescue center project. The milestone comes just days after he completed an grueling 486-kilometer trek from Nairobi to Mombasa to raise funds and awareness for the initiative.
In a social media update shared on Monday, February 16, 2026, Omondi celebrated the start of construction, which kicked off on Sunday. Under his “Sisi Kwa Sisi” (We for Us) banner, the project aims to create a comprehensive support hub for vulnerable Kenyans.
The Vision: More Than Just a Shelter
According to Omondi, the facility is designed to be a multi-functional campus focused on immediate relief and long-term empowerment. The project includes:
-
- A Rescue Center: A safe haven for individuals rescued from crisis situations.
- A Warehouse: A logistics hub to store and manage food and material donations.
- A Free Secondary School: Providing quality education to bright students from underprivileged backgrounds.
- Medical Support: The acquisition of two dedicated ambulances to serve the community.
“The dream is finally coming to life. We broke ground yesterday. The vision is alive,” Omondi shared, alongside footage of excavators and trucks delivering construction materials like cement and blocks.
A Call for Continued Support
While the physical work has begun, Omondi emphasized that the mission is far from over. He urged well-wishers to continue contributing to the cause, noting that additional funds are required to secure more land and complete the structures.

The “Walk of Love” captured national attention, garnering support from fellow artists like Daddy Owen and Nyota Ndogo, as well as everyday Kenyans along the highway. Now, that public momentum is being poured directly into the foundation of what Omondi hopes will be a lasting legacy of self-reliance and charity.
