Speaking during a candid conversation with Wonder Jr in an episode aired on April 6, 2026, Kansiime shared that the turning point came after an interview she gave while in Nairobi.
A question that changed everything
She recalled being asked where she saw herself in five years—an inquiry that made her realise her then-husband was not part of that vision.
“I remember I had just come back from Nairobi, and someone had asked me during an interview where I see myself in five years, and he was not there where I was seeing myself,” she said.
The question lingered in her mind, eventually prompting her to initiate a serious conversation about the future of their marriage.
“It had been on my head, and I sat, and I told him we needed to talk,” she added.
Kansiime said she expressed her doubts about the relationship, but her husband’s response left her feeling misunderstood.
“He told me, ‘Anne, not everything is comedy… you are married, you do not wake up and say you do not feel like.’”
She admitted that his reaction made her realise he did not recognise when she was being serious, a moment she says marked a turning point for her.
“I snapped out of it… I was like, ‘So this guy does not know when I am serious?’”
Following the conversation, she chose to withdraw and reflect before eventually moving on from the marriage.
“I then kept quiet and moved on,” she said.
Paying her own dowry
Kansiime also shared another surprising detail about her past relationship, revealing that she once paid her own bride price.
After introducing her partner to her parents—who accepted him and requested dowry—she said he failed to follow through, prompting her to take matters into her own hands.
“They asked him to bring a dowry, which he didn’t bring… I paid it myself,” she explained.
According to Kansiime, both she and her partner eventually moved past the issue and continued with life.
Life after marriage
Kansiime was previously married to Gerald Ojok for about four years before their separation around 2017. She later found love again with fellow artist Skylanta in 2018, and the two share a child.
Her revelations offer a rare glimpse into the personal decisions behind her highly publicised relationship, highlighting the introspection and challenges that shaped her journey.
