The following areas are to be affected by planned maintenance by Kenya Power

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in eight counties on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, to facilitate routine maintenance and network upgrades.

In a notice shared on Monday, May 11, 2026, via X, the utility company said the scheduled outages will affect selected areas in Nairobi, the Mt. Kenya region, the Coast, Western Kenya, and the North Rift. The interruptions are expected to occur between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, depending on the specific location.

According to Kenya Power, the maintenance exercise is aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply and enhancing the stability of the national grid.

“Good evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (12th May 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” the company stated.

Nairobi areas affected

In Nairobi, areas along Airport North Road will experience outages from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected locations include Nyayo Estate Phase 1, Embakasi Jua Kali, Baraka Estate, Simba Estate, Donholm Phase 8, and sections of Soweto.

Additional areas scheduled for power interruptions between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm include Kasarani, Garden City, Seasons, Clay City, Kilimani, and parts of Othaya Road and Makueni Road, alongside nearby estates.

Kenya Power also announced that the Sultan area in Makueni County will be affected by outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Coast and Western regions

In the Coast region, parts of Kilifi County, including Kibokoni and neighbouring areas such as Ocean Ports and King Fisher, will experience power cuts from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In Kwale County, areas set to be affected include Kwale Town, County Offices, Kwale Referral Hospital, Golini, and surrounding neighbourhoods during the same period.

Meanwhile, in Western Kenya, sections of Siaya County, including Akala Market, Kaudha, Wangbith, Rachare, and nearby schools and dispensaries, will also be without electricity from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Mt. Kenya and North Rift

In Kirinyaga County, Githure Market and nearby villages such as Kiangoi, Kabiroini, and Ngariama are among the areas expected to experience outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In Nyeri County, the affected areas include Munyu, Warazo Jet, Kimahuri, Mapema Market, and areas surrounding Mountain Lodge.

In Uasin Gishu County, locations including Imbinga, Ivugwi, Likuyani, Everglade, Lugulu, Soysambu, and Kongoni will also face electricity interruptions between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
