Eric Omondi give update on the house he’s building for Mama Simon

Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi has shared a heartwarming update on the ongoing construction of an apartment complex he is building for Mama Simon, a woman from Githurai whose story touched the hearts of many earlier this year.

The project, which was initiated after actress Dorea Chege highlighted Mama Simon’s difficult living conditions, has now reached a major milestone — the building has risen to its third storey.

A Dream Taking Shape

According to Omondi, the ground floor of the building is already complete and now serves as Mama Simon’s new home, while construction of the upper floors continues. The comedian expressed pride in the progress and gratitude to Kenyans who have supported the initiative so far.

“We’ve now reached the third floor,” Omondi shared in a social media update. “The goal is to finish the remaining eight rental units soon so the family can have a steady source of income.”

The project’s vision goes beyond providing a roof over the family’s head — it aims to create long-term financial stability through rental income once all the units are complete.

From Desperation to Hope

Mama Simon, an ailing mother from Githurai, became a symbol of resilience after her story spread online earlier this year. Dorea Chege was among the first to bring her plight to light, mobilizing Kenyans to help.

Eric Omondi soon stepped in, taking charge of constructing a multi-storey apartment to transform the family’s living conditions. His gesture quickly drew widespread praise from fans and fellow public figures who commended his commitment to social impact.

Fans Praise Omondi’s Kindness

In response to his latest update, fans flooded Omondi’s comment section with messages of encouragement.

“May you never lack, Eric. God bless you,” wrote one follower.
“Most inspiring video I’ve watched today,” added another.

Mama Simon also expressed her deep gratitude to all who have supported the initiative, saying their generosity has restored hope to her family.

“I pray that God blesses everyone who has helped us,” she said emotionally. “Please continue standing with us until the remaining floors are completed.”
