Family Feud Erupts As Betty Bayo’s Brother Claims Widower Tash Was Never Legally Married To Singer

Family wrangles have reportedly erupted barely weeks after the burial of gospel musician Betty Bayo, with her brother, Edward Mbugua, publicly challenging the standing of the singer’s widower, Hiram Gitau (Tash), and staking a claim for the custody of the children.

Mbugua took to his TikTok account to lift the lid on the ensuing drama, specifically claiming that the extended family currently lacks access to their nephews and nieces, Sky and Danny.

Kanyari’s Claim to Custody

Mbugua openly stated that the family exclusively recognizes Pastor Victor Kanyari as the biological father of Sky and Danny, and insists that Kanyari should be granted full custody. He emphasized the existing, strong familial bond shared through the children, asserting that the two families are connected by blood.

“Kanyari is the biological father to Sky and Danny and we share blood with Kanyari. Bayo united us through those two kids… we are the family of Bayo, and Kanyari is the father,” Mbugua stated, reiterating that the children and the deceased’s assets should not be separated from the family.

Dispute Over Assets and Marital Status

Mbugua further revealed that he had been part of his sister’s investment and financial planning over the years. Consequently, he publicly demanded that all of his late sister’s assets be consolidated and placed under the names of his niece and nephew.

“I want everything that belongs to my sister to be put in one place because the kids are growing, and these are their mother’s assets, and there is no discussion,” he asserted.

Crucially, Mbugua also made a major allegation regarding Betty Bayo’s relationship with Tash. While responding to a follower who suggested Tash would inherit the assets as the legal husband, Mbugua hinted that the pair had never officially married.

“Everything is with the next of kin, and things are slowly coming to light. No one married anyone anywhere. It never reached that point; it was just a celebration. If you know how ruracio [traditional marriage] rituals [work], there was none there, and I was there,” he claimed, suggesting the traditional marriage ceremony was incomplete, thereby challenging Tash’s legal status as her widower.

His revelations have stirred widespread discussion on social media regarding the custody fate of the children and the distribution of Betty Bayo’s estate.
