Jackie Matubia looking to become a pastor

Jackie Matubia has opened up about a possible future behind the pulpit — just months after publicly declaring her salvation and surrendering her life to Christ.

Matubia made the revelation while speaking at the official launch of the Redmi Note 15 series, where she hinted that becoming a pastor is not off the table if that is the path God chooses for her.

The actress, a household name across East Africa thanks to her iconic roles in Tahidi High and the hit drama Zora, now proudly describes herself as a “living testimony.”

A bold spiritual awakening

In January 2026, Matubia marked a deeply personal milestone by announcing to her followers that she was born again in Christ Jesus. At the time, she revealed that her faith had carried her through what she described as her darkest season.

Speaking at the Redmi launch, she clarified that her spiritual transformation was not sudden or impulsive. In fact, she revealed that she was raised in the church.

“For me, I don’t think it’s a big shift. I’m a pastor’s kid,” Matubia explained.
“I’ve been in the industry, and right now it is just coming out boldly saying Jesus Christ is Lord and I’m born again, and I’m happy to walk with Him until His return.”

She added that she is no longer hesitant about publicly expressing her faith and feels at peace walking openly with Jesus.

On the question of becoming a pastor, Matubia left the door wide open.

“Only God is going to tell me. So, if He decides to anoint me, who am I to refuse?”

Faith meets digital influence

Despite her renewed spiritual focus, Matubia remains one of Kenya’s most influential digital creators, commanding over 1.2 million followers on Instagram. At the launch event, she also spoke about life as a content creator and what she values in a smartphone.

For her, the camera is non-negotiable, alongside AI-powered tools that allow her to ask questions and work on the go. She noted that she treats her gadgets with care, explaining that her phone doubles as her office.

Empowering women beyond the screen

Beyond content creation, Matubia is also quietly building a business empire. She revealed that she owns several shops and companies that many people are unaware of.

Using her platform, she hopes to empower young people — especially single mothers — by teaching them how to import goods from China and sell online. She also wants to encourage women to be confident on camera as they market their products.

What’s next for Jackie Matubia

Fans of her acting career won’t be left behind. Matubia confirmed that season two of her show Toxic is officially on the way, saying she is “set and ready” for the upcoming season.

Still, her biggest focus for 2026 appears to be ministry. The actress has previously pledged to dedicate the year to preaching the gospel and sharing her personal journey — using her massive influence to deliver a message of faith, hope, and transformation.
