Veteran journalist Jeff Koinange has finally addressed growing speculation about his extended absence from television, following weeks of online chatter about his health and professional status.

The Citizen TV anchor — renowned for his deep voice, commanding presence, and trademark phrase “Oh my!” — has been noticeably missing from the screen, sparking widespread concern among his loyal viewers.

Some fans speculated that Jeff had parted ways with Citizen TV, while others feared he might be battling illness.

However, a recent TikTok video posted by his close friend and Classic 105 radio host Maina Kageni has cleared the air.

In the short clip, Jeff appears relaxed and cheerful as the two stroll and share light conversation. Maina reassured fans that the celebrated journalist is perfectly fine and will soon resume his duties.

“Jeff is doing great and will be back on our screens very soon,” Maina captioned the post, putting weeks of speculation to rest.

The update was met with relief and warmth from fans online, who flooded the comments with support and humor.
@Eddi joked, “Hii kazi ya kushikanisha leave days mpaka za CNN awache,” while @Ajely added, “I thought he was replaced by Emmanuel Ndung’u.”

Jeff’s Rare Glimpse into His Private Life

In a candid Convo podcast interview earlier in July 2025, Jeff opened up about his personal life — a topic he rarely discusses.

Reflecting on his early years in New York, he revealed that he was once married to a flight attendant, a relationship that lasted seven years.

“I was married for seven years actually, seven good years, and it was great,” he said.
“She was a flight attendant, so she was away a lot, and I was in school, then started working at the networks.”

The marriage eventually ended, but Jeff described the separation as amicable.

“You know how you fall out of love — things happen, and you move on. It was a tough break-up,” he admitted.

He added that despite parting ways, they’ve remained in contact over the years.

“She moved to Florida now, but thanks to the digital age, we’re always in touch.”

When asked about his current relationship, Jeff confirmed that he remains happily married to his wife Shaila, with whom he shares a child.

“Yes, I am,” he said firmly. “But that’s the part I like to keep private because this part of me is so public. If there’s anything I can protect, it’s that.”

A Media Icon with a Global Legacy

Jeff Koinange continues to stand among Kenya’s most celebrated journalists, boasting a career that spans both local and international media.

He earned global recognition as a CNN correspondent, where he covered major African stories — from political transitions and humanitarian crises to historic moments that shaped the continent.

Upon returning home, Jeff cemented his place in Kenya’s broadcast history through his acclaimed show Jeff Koinange Live (JKL) on Citizen TV, where his sharp interviewing style, eloquence, and charisma turned political discussions into must-watch television.
