Jimmy Gait attacked in Runda

Jimmy Gait is recovering in hospital after a violent attack in Nairobi’s upscale Runda neighbourhood on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. on February 22, 2026. News of the assault was first made public by his close friend and gospel DJ, DJ Mo, through a social media post that quickly gained widespread attention.

A Narrow Escape

Shortly after the ordeal, Jimmy Gait appeared in a video visibly shaken and covered in blood. In the footage, he described a terrifying struggle, confirming that he had sustained multiple injuries during the attack.

“I was attacked… they’ve hurt me so badly. You can see I’m full of blood all over,” he said.

According to his account, the attackers used sharp weapons, leaving him with deep cuts to his hands and severe injuries to his fingers. The singer expressed shock at the level of violence, stating that he felt he had come face-to-face with death.

“I just saw death with my own eyes. It’s only by God’s grace I’ve survived. Please pray for me,” he added.

Emergency Response and Public Warning

Following the assault, the singer was rushed to St. Teresa Thindigua Hospital for urgent medical treatment. In addition to his physical injuries, he was reportedly robbed of his mobile phone during the incident.

While sharing the news online, DJ Mo issued a viewers’ discretion warning due to the graphic nature of the images and video. He also cautioned the public against responding to any suspicious messages sent from Jimmy Gait’s phone.

“Be aware of any exploitation because they took his phone,” DJ Mo warned, urging fans and members of the gospel community to keep the artist in their prayers.

Security Concerns in Runda

Runda is widely regarded as one of Nairobi’s safest and most affluent residential areas, home to diplomats, business leaders, and prominent figures. An attack occurring in broad daylight within such a neighbourhood has raised fresh concerns about security.

Jimmy Gait is a well-known figure in Kenya’s gospel music scene. He rose to national fame in the late 2000s with hits such as Muhadhara and Huratete, songs that blended humour, social commentary, and spiritual themes. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for resilience, often overcoming personal and professional challenges.

As investigations into the attack continue, supporters across the country have expressed relief at his survival and hope for his swift recovery.
