Kenya Power Announces Scheduled Electricity Interruptions in Nyeri, Meru, Embu and Bomet on July 13
Kenya Power has announced planned electricity maintenance works that will affect parts of Nyeri, Meru, Embu and Bomet counties on Monday, July 13, 2026.
The utility company said the scheduled outages are part of routine maintenance aimed at improving the reliability and stability of the electricity distribution network. Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan ahead, with power expected to be interrupted between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., depending on the location.
Nyeri County
In the Mt. Kenya region, two areas will be affected by the planned maintenance.
Gakoe, Kaigonde and Aguthi will experience a power interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The outage will affect Sagana Falls Power Station, Mungaria, Kangubiri Secondary School, Aguthi Dispensary and neighbouring customers.
A separate outage will also affect Kiamabara and Mungetho during the same hours. Areas to be affected include Kiamabara Market, Mungetho Market, Matira-Ini, Kieni Coffee Factory, Gachiara, Nduru, Karema-Ini, Ihiga, Kirigu, Kieni Primary School, Safaricom booster stations, Airtel booster stations and adjacent customers.
Meru County
Customers in parts of Maua, Kinna and the Garbatulla-Benane corridor will be without electricity from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The maintenance will affect a wide area, including Muthara, Muriri, Mbaranga, Karama, Kangeta, Maili Tatu, Laare, Mutuati, Kabachi, Antu-Betwe, Meru National Park, Njoune, Kiutine, Igembe and Kiegoi tea factories, Maua Town, Maua General Hospital, Kindani, Rhino Camp, Kiengu Bakeries, Maua Methodist Hospital, Athi, Rumanthi Girls, Atuanduru Market, Kawiru, Nkoune, Kipkona, Mpinda, Kabuitu, Ncheme, Amwamba, China State Buulu Camp, China State Garbatulla Camp Site, Kinna, Garbatulla, Benane and surrounding areas.
Embu County
In Embu County, the scheduled maintenance will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and affect areas around KTDA Rukuriri and Kyeni Hospital.
Customers in Makutano Market, Mary Goretti Girls, Mufti Market, Njeruri Market, Riad Market, Gitare Secondary School, Kiangungi Market, Gatumbi Market, Evurore Coffee Factory, Kiaragana Primary School and neighbouring areas will be affected.
Bomet County
In the Central Rift region, customers in parts of Kapset, Kiniulot and Kaptien will experience a power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Areas affected include Kapset Tea Factory, Chemalal Tea Factory, Tet EPZ, Tet Tea Factory, Kipsigis Highlands Tea Factory, Kapset Market, Kapkilaibei Market, Chebangang Market, Kolongei Market, Changoi Tea Estate, residential bungalows and adjacent customers.
Kenya Power has apologised for the inconvenience and urged residents and businesses in the affected areas to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the planned maintenance. The company noted that the exercise is part of its ongoing efforts to improve the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply across the country.
