Mungai Eve Responds to Career Criticism as Liz Jackson Defends Her Business Move

Mungai Eve has dismissed claims that her career is in decline following weeks of online criticism and speculation about her lifestyle and career direction.

The influencer, who built a strong following through her street interview content, recently found herself at the centre of debate after making a public appeal for support for her new smartphone business.

During an event, Eve asked Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, to help promote her latest venture.

Instead of simply endorsing the business, the comedian-turned-politician encouraged the audience to support her smartphones while advising her to return to the type of content that made her famous.

“Go back and create content, that’s the Eve we knew,” Jalang’o said.

Online Criticism Intensifies

Jalang’o’s remarks quickly sparked reactions online, with many social media users questioning Eve’s current career path.

The criticism intensified after Eve shared a video that drew negative responses from several Kenyans, including Nairobi County official Geoffrey Mosiria.

Some online users speculated that the content creator had lost the momentum that once made her one of Kenya’s most successful digital personalities. Others linked her business transition to her highly publicised professional and personal split from former director and manager Director Trevor in 2024, claiming her solo projects had struggled to achieve the same level of success.

Although Eve initially responded to the criticism with humour through her Instagram Stories, one of her close friends later came to her defence.

Liz Jackson Defends Eve

Digital creator Liz Jackson shared a video on Instagram on Thursday, July 9, 2026, defending Eve’s decision to shift her focus toward business.

“Just because we are no longer loitering around with a microphone asking people for interviews doesn’t mean we are not doing well in life,” Liz Jackson captioned the video.

She argued that Eve has simply evolved beyond her earlier content creation model, adding that her smartphone business is a profitable venture capable of generating more income than street interviews.

The video caught Eve’s attention, prompting the content creator to publicly thank Jackson for speaking out on her behalf.

“Thanks for saying it out loud my love,” Eve commented.

She also addressed critics who expected her career to remain unchanged years after she first rose to fame.

“It’s crazy to expect someone to be the same person they were 6 years ago when they were just 20 yrs old!!!!!” she wrote.
